Thank you, John, for another outstanding episode! Your channel is easily my favorite and it brightens up my Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I really enjoyed seeing the tools with the problems detailed ahead of time and trying to predict how you would restore them. I am learning so much! Beautiful work! Very interesting to see the viewer stats. Your show is one of the few that my wife enjoys watching with me.

Excellent restorations. I really liked the idea of making the brass knob and fixing a bolt to it. I'll have to add that to my bag of tricks I learned here. Your analytics were interesting and thank you for sharing those. At the moment mine are 100% male and 99.9% (literally) are over 35. Interestingly the average view duration and average percentage viewed increases with age. LOL, the older you get, the more patient you are!

Nice restoration on the two pieces. I was just thinking the first time I watched your channel you restored a hammer. I was also thinking about pride. When you buy a quality tool you would think the buyer would respect the tool. Very few use the tool for what they are intended. If you respect your tools you will have them a lifetime and be able to pass them on. My good habit is after I use them I clean them and put them back where they go. Thank you

I was just thinking about your upstate meadow. The council decided to do a similar project behind our house. It looked quite nice when the dandelions were flowering but after that there was just tall grass. Maybe it takes a while for the flowers to return after being mowed for 60 years or so. Or maybe we don't get them on our soil.

As always, nice restorations. Your viewers might find it interesting to see the hammer handle preferences of other viewers. I realized that I have hammer handles of all three types - fiber glass, wood, steel. I always liked fiberglass. In high school shop class, when we were working strap iron (actually strap steel), doing things like flaring the ends, we used fiberglass handled hammers on the anvil. I like feeling the fiberglass handle give when striking the steel. There is no wrong answer - just preferences.

Great video 👍 Wow!,That $3 Estwing hammer 🔨 turned out Fantastic! I thought you were going to use the Dake on that twisted hammer,but you knocked it out 🥊 by hand twisting it back on the vise using that amazing 18” Crescent adjustable wrench 🔧. Again awesome job 🔥👍👍. Also for the condition it was in the handle came out amazing,looks fairly like new now,fantastic job. Those Sargent&Co. dividers turned out Fantastic. I like The knurled milled brass knob you made for the divider, I think that really gave that the finished touch for that tool. It does look better than the one that supposed to be on there,again awesome job 👍. Also that Ramset soft blow hammer you did Wednesday I think it turned out fantastic! 👍👍That Tamiya paint 🎨 color really pops on that hammer 🔨. They had some fantastic deals at that flea market you showed us on video. Another great shot of Old Glory 🇺🇸 flying in the breeze. Well again great video and can’t wait to see what you do on Monday. Short but sweet John, those baby Possums are cute, I bet they nip though ! Great work on the Dividers and Hammer, it looked to me like the head of the hammer was misaligned vertically too, but after you'd removed the twist it looked fine, the brass accent on the Dividers was spot on ! I guess there aren't that many women who search out this sort of content, but there are probably quite a lot of "secondary" subscribers like my wife who quite enjoy the channel but only partake vicariously !

Have you ever done a restoration on a Yankee 1540, 1545, or 1555 eggbeater drills? They are the ones with the cool 5 position selector switch that's let's you ratchet clockwise, counter clockwise, forward, reverse and lock the chuck. When cleaned up, they operate as smooth as a sewing machine.

@@ScoutCrafter that would be the 1555. The Yankee 1530a is pretty small while the 1545 is the mid size. That's my favorite one. Not only did it have the 5 position selector switch, it has a "speed" selector switch. I'm pretty sure the 1555 breast drill has it too. The gizmocity factor on those tools is just amazing.

Hi John, another great restoration, thank you. I have an inquiry for you, i purchased a box of tools today at auction for $10, in the box was a hammer that i had never seen before. It has a ball on both sides like a double sided ball peen hammer. Name on side say Brades 1943 and a symbol. Tried looking it up in google images and closest thing i could find was what was called a Polishing Hammer. Have you seen one of these hammers before? Curious to know what they were used for. In my mind i first thought i could use it to shape then sheet metal with a former to create convex shapes.
@ScoutCrafter
@ScoutCrafter 12 күн бұрын

@ScoutCrafter
@ScoutCrafter 13 күн бұрын
Brian- Most hammers will bend quite a bit before breaking because they are tempered that way. If the hammer breaks at the shaft it was too hard and not tempered correctly. Only the face of the hammer should be very hard, the rest should be somewhat flexible almost like spring steel. 😃👍

The funny thing is the only alignment that matters is the relationship between the face and the handle, the shaft can be twisted, sideways or curved. Your muscle memory will pick up on any small variations and adjust. 😃👍

How would you clean up a Lufkin steel ruler, no.1176, or any folding steel ruler
@ScoutCrafter
@ScoutCrafter 13 күн бұрын
Steel rules are such a challenge because they were high carbon steel and easily pitted- then engraved so if you remove the pits you remove letters and numbers. So far fiber wheel seems to clean them up nice if engraved, if printed we’re screwed! 😂👍

@@ScoutCrafter Thank You, its my favorite ruler to use, and your right most of the ones I find are pitted.

Hello Dino! Cyprus falls in the middle of the list! Just below Finland and just above Hungary! Awesome! 😃👍

Hot in the Basement? My Basement is the coolest place in my house. Are you running a dehumidifier?

I run AC in the house but after a week of heat the basement and attic are just uncomfortable. My GF says I’m delicate. 🫣😂👍

John just over a month ago my girlfriend sat down on the front porch steps and put her hand on the railing(in the dark) and put her hand on a baby opossum. I was visiting my son in the hospital and she sent me a pic and said guess what we got. I kept him for 2 weeks and now my daughter has him. H e has a huge room to himself for quiet times and is awesome. I called him OPEE and if a girl OPAL both a play on "O" in Opossum.

That’s awesome! Make sure the little guy gets cat food, they have specific diet requirements. You are so lucky! 😃👍

He doesnt like cat food,being a baby I was feeding him goats milk in a little kitten bottle then he went straight to grapes and cat food,which he wouldnt eat. He loves Broccoli,grapes,pears meal worms filet mignon ( I had a piece leftover and I cut it into real tiny pieces) Hates sweet potatoes. Half what the experts say he likes the other half he doesnt. He is so cool, loves his ears and head rubbed.His little tail and feet hanging on. He sleeps with a little "Lambchop" stuffed animal and a tiny blanket. Good luck if you get one.Here you have to apply and get a wild animal permit.
