My favorite thing I ordered from Mary Kay was the Premonition cologne. I love all things retro!!! We have that Fondue cookbook that my parents used back in the 70's. I used to have The Rescuers book when I was a kid. Being a St. Louisan, I love the post cards with pictures of The Arch on them.

Wonder books are wonderful! and the vintage sheets Are so pretty. Yes use this in your decor and let us see how it looks ☺️ The dark night time book. I l love all children illustrations of how beautiful the world looks At night. And the board game. It all has a great vibe. I like everything I see here! 😊

Oh cool! I don't think this version was made but for a short while so I'm thankful I found it -- I don't know if I can bear to cut it for a journal cover!

Oh, man, I so remember my mom had that type of curler at one time. And the ones with the pink foam that would crumble over time. Lots of neat books and the beautiful sheets, too!

Oh wow!! The Heidi book is beautiful. The copyright is 100 years or so i have been told. Oh my goodness!! Those pretty yellow flower sheets, my mother or grandmother's had that set!! Thank you for the memories.

What a fun haul! I betcha the family will play Chutes and Ladders with you on Mother’s Day!! You are so lucky at finding vintage sheets! And yes, the thin one has creative possibilities! The old Jesus book is just beautiful!! And the Sesame Street one is in excellent condition and yes, grandchild worthy!!

Crazy coincidence: I also picked out 2 Childcraft encyclopedias this past yard sale weekend: Poems and Rhymes & Look and Learn. Similar covers but printed in 1981 so more “recent illustrations. 😮

Oh, I forgot to ask: how do you cut up a crocheted item without it unraveling? Maybe you showed us before and I didn't see it.

If I adhere it down well enough to what’s behind it (by sewing or gluing), usually it’s fine. I don’t think it unravels too quickly or easily otherwise. I’ve had trims unravel worse (like that giant blue rick rack I found at Joann’s).

You mentioned the books were a bit musty. Do you have any tips for getting that smell out of books? If I put a few pages or tags from a musty smelling book will the whole journal end up smelly?

I’ve found that it doesn’t really - or when a page is separated it loses that over time. Airing it out some after tearing a page out does help too, especially if placed outside in the sun. Search KZfaq for fixes….I’ve seen videos where crafters put baking soda in a plastic tote then seal the books inside with it for a few weeks….but I haven’t tried that.
