Hi Meg! I'm just finally catching up on KZfaq and I wanted to thank you for highlighting the journals I made. Yes, the lace on the Black Beauty journal is vintage. The green cardstock pocket in the Mother's journal is something I got at a thrift store and I have no idea what it was originally. It was a pack so I have more of them. I love that the German song page resonates with you. That's the wonderful thing about junk journals. Happy Journaling!

Oh how amazing these journals are going to be! I love all the wonderful things you have found for them, especially the gorgeous trims! This is my favorite musical/movie of all time. I was 6 when the movie came out and must have seen it in the theater a dozen times. I read about the Von Trapp family and even was able to see the Von Trapp grandchildren preform! I can't wait to see you build these journals and watch the flip throughs!

I bought several Chindi Rugs at Five Below. When I got home, I put one in the dryer on air fluff for about an hour, changing the filter every 15 minutes. I then took it apart, put the fabric pieces in lingerie bags and tossed them in the washer with some jeans to make sure they got pushed and shoved about. Next step was to put the lingerie bags in the dryer. Final step was the long, tedious process of ironing all the fabric strips and cutting off the loose threads. My final plan is make a quilt that it sort of boro/sashiko/kawandi-inspired. It will be a colorful, crazy quilt style with all the fabric bits held in place with running stitches.

You have gathered an absolute treasure trove of Sound of Music goodies and I can't wait to see how these all come together. I would love to do journals based on my top five favorite movies starting with High Society. I am gathering things for a journal I'm calling my "groovy" journal. Basically the bright colorful flowers of the late 60s and early 70s.

Aw man! These are SO GOOD❣️ One of my favorite movies hands down. I am all about the details and you are nailing it! That fabric is just perfection. Are you going to name them after the children because I can sooo see it!! Are ya? are ya? Huh? 😍 Thanks for sharing this. Now I gotta go.watch all the old musicals. Movie marathon weekend!!❣️

Everything you’ve chosen is just perfect! I am a sucker for the jacquard trims. Also, all the books and paper you were able to find will put the “raindrops on the roses” when it comes to making ephemera and embellishments! 😊 My sky’s the limit journal would be Pride and Prejudice themed with authentic Regency fabrics, trims, bits and bobs. 🎀 Second choice would be a rock and roll history journal with emphasis on artists who influenced late 70’s/early 80’s punk and post punk music🤘🏼

That is such a good question! What kind of journal would I want to make if price was not an issue? I’m not sure. All I know is that I’d love to do another retro space journal. I’m really excited about my vintage cake decorating journal, and I can’t wait to do a 60s journal and a sewing and fashion journal.

You do such beautiful work. My ultimate journal to do will be The Wizard of Oz. I already have many items I've been collecting over the years even before I ever thought about making a junk journal like vintage sheet music! I am just a big WOZ fan...lol. Been to the festival on Beech Mt. NC many times😊❤

These are going to be fantastic! I love all the ephemera you have, can't wait to see them finished. Have you seen the movie "The Von Trapp Family - A Life of Music" ? Its the true story told by the oldest daughter Agathe (Liesl in the Sound of Music) life with Maria, and how they appeared at the music festival and left for Switzerland, and came to America. I think you would love it :)

These are going to be fabulous. What a labor of love! My mother loved that movie so much. I think she saw it in the theater at least a dozen times when it came out. The music was her favorite, she would sing it around the house, and she had a beautiful voice.

Love what you did with the filmstrips. Genius!! (Makes me think of if the Von Trapps went to a photobooth, lol! ) And I think you should totally make a chifferobe, and put Maria's pretty blue dress in there!
