After the refitting now it's time to test it. Some adjustments, some crashes and a lot of fun. I discovered this old RC buggy and i was surprised by the handling.

Who could forget that amazing scene from the 1982 promo. video where the champ does an absolute insane jump off a ledge and the buggy drops about 15 feet? The 'FFPDS' suspension absorbs the shock and it speeds away. Tamiya must have sold at least 100,000 units of the kit on that few seconds alone. 'Toys they're not!' Tamiya told us, and toys they most definitely were not. They were and are marvels of model engineering!

Totally agree! In the year plastic became the most part of the models and to me, even if great RC, they are less fascinating. Thanks!

Great video! The Super Champ was my 2nd RC kit after the Sand Rover in early 80's. Your front bumper is brittle after 40 years. My rear cast bumper broke after 4 months and i put the Champ in a box. My next RC was the Audi Quattro Rally which i had a lot of fun with until i started racing 1/8 buggies. Great times! ☺️👍

I love this car. Definitely a bucket list RC for me. It has deep history not only in Tamiya, but in the mint 400 as it was based on a real car that was raced 1978-81 in the Las Vegas Nevada desert. Stinks you had some issues but that’s vintage RC life. Great video Nanni

Wow! You see also this s a surprise. I did not know this is a sort of replica as the Sand Scorcher that I discovered as a real car in '82 during my first trip to USA.... Thanks for the tip! Stay well and Ciao

Nice first run with the old girl. Too bad there were some issues but it looked like it was a lot of fun regardless! I am glad you finally got it out for some fun and I am sure you will have it back in tip-top shape in no time!
