The effect you get with channel mixer is the same as the 2-strip Color Lookup table preset that comes with PS.

You fail to make clear that this is an effect simulating the very early two-color Technicolor process, not the three-color process that most people are familiar with. The only thing that hints at this fact is the use of the word "Vintage" in the title. That said, it is a very convincing two-color effect.

you should be setting both your green and blue channels to 50/50 blue/green.

what kind of technicolor process are you making it look like, process 1, 2, 3, or 4?
@AntonioCabarr
@AntonioCabarr Жыл бұрын
I was aiming for a 3 (usually skin tones appear more red) but it’s more an interpretation of how technicolor feels and it’s remembered more so than an specific color film process. Thanks for your comment!

@@AntonioCabarr What I am trying to say is that there is proess 1, which was only used in The Guld Between (1917) which is definitely the most primitive looking of the bunch, I mean it was an additive red and green process. Process 2 was the first subtractive technicolor film process which was used in Phantom of the Opera (1925), The Black Pirate (1926), The Ten Commandments (1923), Wanderer of the Wasteland (1924) and various other classics. Process 3 is the process your aiming for, It is probably kinda somewhat unique looking of the bunch and was used in film through the late 1920s and early 1930s, but now here is the special one, process 4 is actually the most vibrant looking of the bunch, and the longest lasting one ranging from the 1930s-1960s and for good reason, process 4 is actually it's own standalone camera that uses a 3-strip systm, each strip detects the light of a sperate color and there fore, combines the 3 strips to combine the colors and therefore it looks the most facinating. If you look at films such as Wizard of Oz (1939) look at how saturated and vibrant the colors look, by far, process 4 is the most facinating of the bunch. but yes each technicolor process has it's own color style.

@@theproanimator8447 I see what you mean. No I just made a generic technicolor style, it wasn’t mean to be accurate to an specific. It was more about getting the color filter to resemble that era.

I've seen hundreds of films in Technicolor, l can't say I've ever seen them looking like the rather drab washed out image at the end of this video. Just look at old The Wizard of Oz, The Adventures of Robin Hood, Gone With The Wind, or the later process in Technicolor Prints of Star Wars, or some of the true big 70mm films like Zulu or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
