In January 2022, my friend organised for us the Greenhouse Days, our private players meeting in his market garden. We did run a lot of live steam trains, among them a rare O gauge Doll live steam loco (right at the beginning of this video), a Bing S 2/6 and a Bing "Greater Britain". You can also see a Carette clockwork Clearing Railway in action. And you can see other live steam locos made by Bassett-Lowke, Bing, Bowman and Märklin.
I had a lengthy discussion with the late Bill Wilson, live steam expert of the Bassett-Lowke Society, who believed the Bing "Greater Britains" were poor performers. I disagreed and hoped I could prove my case to him - sadly he died a few years ago. He said he would love to see a "Greater Britain" pull five large bogie coaches - in this video, my "Greater Britain" does so with ease.
So this video is dedicated to Bill Wilson.
