This is Episode #2 of the Eddie series. If you don't like loud noises and things breaking this probably isn't the video for you. I take a 1976 Travel Trailer and completely gut the interior down to the framework and discover I have a lot more work than I expected.

Construction when this trailer was built was done with the walls completed first, then set into place (side walls first), then the end walls put up, and the roof put on. The wiring was pigtails that were inserted in the pre-drilled holes to complete electrical circuits. I remember as I used to supply several trailer plants in So. California with electrical supplies and saw their production process. :)

Glad to see you were wearing a mask. That fibre board and lynoleium may be mae with asbestos. I would suggest 3/4 pressure treated plywood for the floor. Thanks for sharing.

Mobile homes are built in similar fashion. Even the drywall goes on before the walls go up, but not the ends where the other walls join.

I'm kinda excited to see this project. I have an old 15' 1972 camper in my backyard I bought really cheap to use for hunting. But now the roof is leaking, water damage throughout..... but I don't really want to get rid of it. Last summer I thought maybe I should just gut it out and rebuild. The propane stove works great, but the fridge and furnace not so much. So watching your project will give me some inspiration hopefully.

They build those trailers floor, roof walls separately, then piece them together. That's why you see overlap in things like wall panels, roof panels and lino. If you have a rotten floor, might be hard to lift altogether. May be easiest to do it the same as they built, walls and roof separately. Loving this series already. Cheers

Bought a 15' Golden Falcon (I believe) that was all redone with pine tongue and groove interior which made it look like a little log cabin. Nicely done and was great but sold it eventually because my wife learned bears could rip open those doors if they set their minds to it. Not that they ever would but...So I built a cabin in the wilderness for next to nothing and she still won't go up because of bears. Lol. Bit of a phobia I'm afraid.🤔 She's from Australia originally.

Great video Scott , this is probably the best idea yet you’ve thought of. There’s a guy who has a homemade compact camper with state of the art installations, his truck is a 4x4 Ford I believe, he stays around Alaska mostly. The only difference he lives in the camper. I’ll edit his name on this comment. ML&Aloha Your Boy Kekoa&Ohana. “Full send Alaskan overland”.

Just curious as to why you would need to replace the outer shell? Looks like aluminum. I would try and salvage it. Maybe reinforce some of the 2x2 frame inside. Wire it if you are going to and use spray foam. It would be solid as a rock after that. Love the project. Keep up the great content!

Holy cannoli what a bunch of cheap rubbish! Side note; that trailer is the same age as my daughter and she has held up a whole lot better! I had thought you would just go over the aluminum and caulk the seams, but your idea is better. There are a lot of videos about rehabbing old trailers but you already know a lot about construction, so I'm sure will do a great job. we used to pay $1.66USD per sheet of that nasty paneling. So it's going to be fun to see what you make of it - seems like a better idea than your cabin because you can take it so many places.
