Toy Polloi

Күн бұрын

Visionaires from Hasbro was a toy line that passed me by. I was recently sent this lone figure of Arzon as it looked like a fun thing to repair. Similar construction to G.I.Joe figures, but with some added complications.
I now need to find the missing parts so I can at least complete this one figure now he has been repaired. And maybe collect a few more as they have a great style to them.

I had this figure back in the day. The hologram fell off the grey chest piece. Love watching someone fixing these figures

I got a few of these; Arzon, Ectar, and Leoric. The hologram gimmick was awesome, the bold primary colours really appealed to me as a kid, the accessories were really good. Added to that there was a comic range and a cartoon which was one of my favourites as a kid (and having watched it with adult eyes a few times, I'd objectively say it is probably the best 80s cartoon).

I had the chanse to buy one of these figures for about £0,5 (50p ?) like one year ago. Didn't do so, cause he had his hologram missing, and thats the coolest part of these toyline. (It also started to rain cats and dogs, so you were not willing to start looking for loose "spareparts" while the water was pouring down on the whole flea market) 😁

Wow! Arzon looks as good as new! Great fixes on him! You did a great job, especially enjoyed how great the paint matching turned out, and repainting his hair and eyebrows really brought the whole figure back from the dead! Really, really nice! I've never mentioned it before, but I really like the Toy Polloi action figure packaging shape that you have on all your badges, logos, etc. I really like that you use the shape in your videos also to transition scenes to show that time has passed. It's such a cool little thing that you do in your videos that's so natural that I think that it often gets unnoticed by viewers, but I have always thought that it helps to give your videos a very professional touch. Little things like that go a long way to enhance the production and the viewer enjoyment, and I thank you for that sort of extra effort. I also really appreciate that you're not running music in the background when you're narrating. This always helps with clarity. If the message isn't clear, I often wonder what the point of those sort of instructional DIY videos are? I watch several Matchbox restorer's videos and they're always talking over background music, and often it's a struggle to hear what they're saying. You use music in between your narratives instead, and that's a nice way to do things. I guess, what I'm trying to say is-- thank you for taking your audience into consideration, and doing nice, professional videos that we can all enjoy! I learn more from you than any other toy restorer online, and I'm excited whenever you post something new! Cheers!

Fabulous repair of a fun toy. Loved Visionaries as a kid. BTW, hats off to you Dave on your steady hand whilst painting, especially those eyebrows. My own attempts at painting fine detail sometimes look like they were done by a gerbil standing on a paint mixer.

Fantastic work once more 👏🏼 I always thought Visionaries were premium or elite toys as a kid due to not seeing them as much as others plus the animated show just wasn’t on TV however the VHS was £10 in John Menzies - child logic 🧠

Dave, I would love to see you make custom replacement holograms for these figures, i have been looking for nice copies of these figures but the holograms have often deteriorated over time, this is one of the shows i watched over and over again as a kid just because i found the concept and power staff chants amazing!

Funnily enough, I've corresponded with a few toy-industry people over the recent years, and kept getting told "holograms are too expensive to do." I'd really like to know what changed in the hologram industry in the last 40 years or so, because they had multiple toy lines with holograms back in the 1980s, not to mention FREE hologram stickers included with GoBots and other "cheap" lines!

I like to add a small ball bearing into my Vallejo paints. You can get a large bag pretty cheap on eBay. Works just like the ball in a spray can. Makes it a lot easier to mix the paint.
