Here is a neat tip when drilling very small holes. Use a sewing pin to make a small dimple in the plastic before you drill. That will prevent the drill bit from riding. It has a been a life saver for me when I work on model trains.

Nice mend and scult. Youcan just wash off Acrylics while they are wet if you don't like the colour but your match was very good. I have used a silver gel pen from the Works on some of my miniatures painting figures. They are very fine tipped so only really small lines or areas can be done. They are cheap for 3 and you can get gold ones too. Do tend to dry up it seems fairly quickly in the pens themselves but how cheap they are doesn't really matter.

Great repairs, Dave! It's always nice to see you go through the steps to repair figures like this. Even if you've done things like this on the channel in the past, it's nice to see you continue to do them for a couple reasons. First, it reminds us of the methods to use if we need to make similar repairs, and secondly, with each action figure problem encountered, there's a chance to see even greater successes than previously seen in past attempts. Personally, I think the thumb repair and paint match here are outstandingly good, and you'd never notice that those pelvis pieces were ever broken to begin with! As these sort of repairs are some of the most common GI JOE action figure repairs that are needed on figures, I think it's great to show videos like this for the benefit of new viewers and old alike. I've really enjoyed the frequency of your most recent videos. It seems like you're getting them out to us at a very swift pace, and I'm enjoying them all! Congratulations on another fantastic video!

As a diehard Joe collector from 1982 to present, this warms my heart. I love seeing these old guys put back into service again. A lot of the Tele-Vipers have the broken crotch and chipped nose. I have a question though: how fragile is the Milliput repair? I'm guessing you don't want to jam a weapon in the hand with the thumb repair, but what about the crotch pieces? How much abuse can the Milliput tolerate before breaking off again? Can the figures sit down and be moved around? Thanks! I might try this on a few of my old junker figures. I'm one of those people who wouldn't dare throw a Joe figure away, even in the roughest shape.

The pelvis is very sturdy as it's quite thick. With the fingers you need to be careful with them but they do hold guns. They are about as brittle as the original thumbs.

As always a great watch. Thanks Dave. But there’s something I don’t understand with a lot of restoration KZfaqrs; why do so many of you speed up the actual restoration parts of your restoration videos? You’ll happily talk us through what you’re going to do but then when it comes to the most interesting part of the whole vid, you speed it up. Please don’t, for me personally it’s the entire reason I’m watching and it’s very frustrating to see the best part whizzed through like it doesn’t matter. Other than that, keep up the good work

If doing a restoration and the leg screws are rusted.... Do you think it's safe to soak the whole leg section in vinegar? Great video as always!

I've not tried that myself. If the screw is so rusted you can't unscrew it, vinegar will not make it any better, just less rusty.

Hello Toy Polloi, Pardon my me for asking this, I prefer not to make requests for content even if I were a Patron (Which while I'm not yet, I may just become one on the first. Kinda broke till then on anything not essential you see.) but would it be possible for you to do a paint mixing 101 video series? As I am making figurines for my shop, Dash Terrier Props and More I am finding it hard to get the mixing of Acrylic paint working right. So far my props have had mostly standard coloring or are varnished (A primary type of prop I do is Pottermore Wands, wood carving is less paint heavy after all, inlays and inks work for those best) but I am making figurines as well as future prop projects needing good color matching on painting. I see how easy you make it look, I thought I'd ask and see if you have any tips, I can't seem to keep mine when using Card, towels or the like wet they dry like they had nothing but pigment in them. Anyway hope all is well for you I know you're all locked down in the UK and I hope that soon passes, glad we are slowly getting vaccines for that stupid viral and hopefully life gets back to normal soon especially for you guys in the UK, and Brazil. Terrible thing that strain they got a few great friends of mine come from both regions and I worry about them like brothers. Sorry got a bit rambly there, heh I talk a lot and sometimes it seems disconnected. But it does have some common things to it. Anyway yeah if you could even recommend a good guide to paint mixing for beginners that would be great, I got a lot to make and if I want it to look good I need painting lessons Beyond just buying batches of premixed colors (Which a few colors I am, just because I know I'll need lots of those colors So or Blue and Rebecca Purple for example.) Thanks and again stay safe.

@@toypolloi I've seen some of them, but my biggest problem is when I am mixing paints on a Pallet they dry far too quick especially on card and towels. Any advice for that my friend? Not sure but you don't by chance use a type of thinner to keep them wet while working like the stuff they use in air spray systems to keep them from clogging? Just asking and thanks again for the reply will do my best to give some patreon support soon you do some nice work. Even if you do kill legos, XD just a joke for me I am going to make duplicate resin ones for my projects I want to have shoulder articulation, being a firm Anti-Kragle collector just makes my mindset not to damage any Lego, even if I buy 3rd party parts but as long as the parts are easy to get I don't mind you doing so. Just never touch the Monorail tracks and Toa masks and we'll be fine. ;)
