Heavy lady once complained car pulled to the left. The alignment was fine & tech test drove the vehicle & tracked fine but then she came back with the same complaint. So the tech adjusted the tracking to veer to the right slightly & the lady said it now drove straight. Another satisfied customer......

Glad the guy in the second story was understanding and cool when he found out what caused the problem with his seat. Good stories, both were really good examples of an uncomfortable situation to present the customers.

It probably has something to do with the part where the guy claims that "halting" everything going on in the shop could cost them $6,000 to $10,000 in productivity loss because, as he mentioned, labor costs $150/hr and a bunch of people dropped what they were doing to come and see the "sensation". Kind of odd to call it a $10,000 pleasure device, but also, TECHNICALLY, not entirely wrong, so... 🤷‍♂️ It's KZfaq, after all, odd stuff generates clicks. To be honest, when I first clicked on the video I thought "who the fuck spends ten grand on that kinda thing" to myself, too.

I can absolutely agree on a shop, and entire dealership stopping for things I found in trade in vehicles. Sometimes we'd even drive it to our sister shops to show them😂🤣

As a bigger guy myself, I think you could have saved the guy a lot of aggravation if you had simply pointed out what was happening the first time. He’s a big guy, and knows you sometimes have to make accommodations to avoid problems.

I used to work at an auto auction that also repoed cars. One day we had a lady call whos car was repoed she was all worried because she could not find her favorite "toy" we found it "a 12inch purple toy" behind the glove box of her Caravan

Had a women bring a car into acura for a buzzing noise in the trunk found a vibrator hidden under the spare tire that had turned on. It was also common for military men to bring in there new cars because that had a oil stain in their driveway when they got home but neither their car or their wife’s car were leaking a drop of oil. Had a few dads bring in the cars they bought for there daughters cause the seat wouldn’t move but if you sat in the back seat you could always see foot prints on the back of the seat where someone had been pushing on it

We had an employee who was a very big man. We had to replace the driver's seat in a shuttle bus he drove about every 8 months. The welds would actually break, and the metal would bend in the seat. The shop mechanics couldn't believe the damage that would happen.

Used to fix a fleet of Dodge Caravans for a taxi company. They had a woman who was over 400 pounds as a driver. They finally decided on one van that was reserved for her when she was on shift, as after replacing it a few times they had me strip it apart to the frame. I not only fixed the broken factory welds I added a few of my own and some reinforcement. When you need custom welding to not break a minivan seat, its time to back away from the fridge.

I worked at a wheel shop for years, an Acura NSX came in with locked nuts on it, as you may know the customer usually misplaces the key. We went looking for the key tool to unlock their wheels, starting in the glove box, not there. Next stop is the trunk where the tool kit and jack usually are, well there was a tool kit in there, big bag of colorful male parts!

Wow, that second story would not have happened this way here in France. I think the mechanic would have just told him the equivalent of : 'Sir, you're a large person, try and sit in the car without weighing on the back rest and it's going to be fine' the first time he came in, and cherry on top, it would have saved time and money for both parties involved...

I got into a Volvo 42T tractor last night to service. When I got up there I almost fell out the open door. Then I was like "are the seat bolts loose?" No, the left front seat mount was cracked. Of all the obvious things the driver stated that was wrong with his truck his broken seat was the least of his worries. Also, the steering wheel was as far forward and tall as could be. Kinda like an old cab over. Anyway he's getting a new seat amongst other issues.

Why would you take a picture and say "does this belong to you"? The key is never making these types of things personal. You put in an opaque box such as cardboard. You tape it up closed. You hand it to the customer and say "this object was preventing the seat from working properly because it was lodged in the track"

We had a lad at my last place, driver in a 14tonne fridge truck. Went through 3 air assist seats, and 5 drivers side coil springs. In 1YEAR!!! He wasn't light.

2nd story. Fat and happy..... my dad was that way. 6 foot 2, 450lbs at his biggest. Loved eating, knew it was killing him slowly. Made the effort to lose 100lbs, that killed him in 6 weeks at 39 years old, if he took a year to do it, he'd be 76 this year. He preferred Olds Vista Cruisers and would have a shop move the seat mounts rearward 9 inches so he could fit in better.

It's not only fat people who can destroy the seat. I have driving one who press the shoulders against the backrest and push the feets to the floor so he could adjust his pants to avoid wrinkles. I could hear how the chair was near to die.

Erik WP,, You sound like you've never worked at a dealership. I LITERALLY had a fiance outed from the kid of the parts counter woman who worked at the Buick dealership in a rivertown back in 1987. The woman was red haired and freckled,,, and at that time,,, probably 15 years married to a redneck beer swilling p.o.s. Her decision to have a long-term relationship with the chief salesman was probably 30% attraction and 70% spite toward the redneck abuser hubby. He was a great stereotype of 7th grade education and Ford truck with gun rack and quick to threaten gun violence during verbal exchanges. She was clearly the sales guy's work wife,,, and in my short time there, she was unapologetic about her association with him. I was equally unimpressed at her physical presentation AND her seeming pride in being the salesman's choice of squeeze. Her general behavior should have been a clue as to how she parented, and certainly that she would not have instilled any such thing as decent morals in her son. So, I was not surprised to find that he was the sort to violate another guy's relationship just a couple of years later. Certain kinds of people don't change their ways despite what level of success they have in life.... redneck woman laying with the salesman, while salesman's wife is laying with the dealership owner,,, every dealership has a soap opera going under its roof.

I used to work at caliber collision and one time a rental vehicle was supposed to be brought back to us with the guy stop answering our calls. He ended up getting arrested and the car got towed back to Caliber collision with No keys. I had to figure out a way to get into the trunk Once I did I found a suitcase that was locked up once I broke that open I found a tub of crisco And a four inch wide anal plug and the renter was a guy.
