I can't forget seeing ads for the Betty Davis albums in Rolling Stone back in the day. She stepped away from the record biz and not much was heard from her until the They Say I'm Different documentary. And even then she remained very private, not wanting to appear on camera. I also remember playing my aunt's Sonics singles over and over. They were local boys! I'd like to forget the the Beatles Movie Medley!

Couldn't agree with you more " getaway" is pretty much the only thing Chicago did during the entire 80s decade, I didn't despise. In the 70s, Chicago could do no wrong, Chicago 7 is my fave. Chicago 16 began their mushy love song period. In the 70s, even the love songs were good

Some pretty interesting finds there. A few I'm going to check out as I was not aware of them. Thank you. BTW, the $500++ reels are usually 10", are 2 tracks only and run at 15 ips so unless you have a machine capable to handle these requirements, you will not be able to play them. I don't know I get the feeling some people will still try to get those to play on their small R2R deck just to realize they don't even fit. 7 inch reels at 7 1/2 ips is the way to go. Decent enough sound to enjoy the medium.

"13 songs" is my Fugazi favourite. It's an ep with some extra tracks on it but it is a perfect album, I have never grown tired of it in the 30 years I've owned it. I think they were the same guys as Minor Threat that came before.

I love how the song Merchandise by Fugazi has always reminded me of Killing Machine by Judas Priest. That Beatles 45 is just weird. I got 2 of them that are different releases. I got that Beach Boys one as well. Best part of the reel to reel phenomenon is that its gonna take probably $2500+ to get a really good player to play those tapes. This is why people should reuse videotape and make hi-fi recordings like that. Or if someone invents a new tape deck that can reuse old tape at 2x speed. That way it can be extra crispy hi-fi.

I've received three of the four Betty Davis, Light in the Attic label, LP's in the last two weeks. I was really glad they did this Archival Series deal because I just could not find any of her albums in record stores here where I live. I was really surprised too when I got the Betty Davis self-titled LP and I was reading the back of the record cover. I never had any idea that Neal Schon and Greg Ericco we're on that 1973 album. Neal Is listed as being on four out of the eight songs (I actually think he's more than four tracks) and Greg was a producer of the album. I have noticed though that Betty Davis - Nasty Gal doesn't seem to be getting released in this archival series. I wonder why? Maybe it will later, I don't know? The fourth album that I've pre-ordered strangely isn't being released, or at least I'm not going to be receiving it, until mid-November. I kind of think they must have already all been reissued and repressed here in the USA about a week or two ago but for some reason Nasty Gal wasn't reissued or repressed. But on the back of at least one of the new releases, and the only one that I've seen from the Light In The Attic label reissue/represses that has a 2021 instead of 2023 date on the album cover, it shows Nasty Gal with the LITA catalog number and other just released albums on the back cover. So that has me wondering if two years ago they had some plans and then maybe something's changed since then? Betty Davis died on 2/29/2022 so it wasn't long ago and maybe that has something to do with it? Who knows? Brian in Fort Worth 🎶 Brian in Fort Worth 🎶

@@RobertFithen Yes exactly and I noticed that too. I went ahead and bought a copy of the 2018 Vinyl Me Please pressing yesterday. The guy that I got it from was selling it brand new at a much lower price than anyone else and he had multiple copies. I think he had sold about 40 of them just since these recent reissues have come out and people have been learning this one isn't going to be a part of it. He was telling me that Nasty Gal was not being re-released in this Archival Series recent release of most of her albums. He's a real big record company or at least seller and he knew a whole lot about what's going on with these Betty Davis pressings in recent years. He did not know why NG wasn't being included but he was 100% positive that it's not going to be part of the series. I really do think he knew what he was talking about too. I have bought from him and dealt with him before and he is a really good seller with a lot of knowledge I've noticed through the years. I guess we'll have to wait and see but I'm guessing there may have been some sort of problem with the label. I think that one was LITA046 if I remember right. The copy I'm getting is from the last pressing of it and it reportedly sounds really good. But I sure would like to find it in the Archival Series re-releases that they're doing now too. Maybe in the future it will finally get another pressing? I've been real happy with the sound on these latest archival series pressings. I'm still blown away that one of my favorite guitarists, Neal Schon, was part of her self-titled LP release. Like I mentioned, he plays on 50% of the songs and you can tell his guitar playing when you hear it :-)

Glad to see we are in 100% complete agreement on Chicago 16. Ugh! I need to send this video to Tommy! ;-) But this does bring up a question. Do you like Chicago at all? I know you don't like horns, so I'd guess that Chicago would be musical kryptonite for you.

@RobertFithen 10 ай бұрын
I think Chicago did the horn thing better than most. I really like the first album, especially "Beginnings" and "South California Purples". They have some great songs scattered among the other early albums. With Chicago 16, the rumor is that it's not even Chicago playing on most of the songs.
