It can be challenging to match the intensity of Coltrane's music. However, I am pleased that you have brought along some knowledgeable guests. Well done!

Talking about John Coltrane without playing so much as a single note is like sitting down to eat and being handed an empty plate

Hats off to the guests. For Coltrane fans, this album is pretty amazing (Elvin Jones!), especially for those of us whose all-time favorite song is Coltrane's "My Favorite Things" 💜 Cheers from Kobe.

Cool discussion, would've been really interesting to hear Tim and Richard explain the music theory with their own instruments as well as through words.

Apparently, the individual who did the mix for this thought Elvin was the leader when one considers how high up (to the detriment of the music as a whole) he is in the mix. Next up is Workman. Then, buried underneath are Coltrane, Dolphy & Tyner. I have many, many hours of the Coltrane-Dolphy era & I get the feeling from this recording that Coltrane couldn't wait to get on with his next project & get these last few contractual obligation dates out of the way. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have more of this group, but there are some real cringe-inducing moments, highlighted by an unbelievably excruciating bass solo in 'Africa". I edited it out & it sounds much better. This is a sub-par performance by the group when compared to the Vanguard recordings & the many, many others that have been officially released or available to torrent.
