@@agastio-9530 kinda is 🤣🤣 I play bass in a band. My bass has four knobs and I use like two of them. (Have to note that I never learnt it properly though, self taught. I actually learnt the flute.)

@@agastio-9530 Depends on the player I guess. I have active basses and I use all of the knobs EXCEPT volume (or very rarely). I even use the mid-range frequency selector switch often.

Fun fact: Because of its position on the frequency spectrum, a bass is never out of tune. If the bass plays a note that differs in intonation from the rest of the ensemble, it's everybody else who sounds out of tune. @@eugenia_valerolol as a sound engineer in training i was told to not bother with the bass because most people cant tell that its out of tune. Although as somewhat of a perfectionist Id rather have it in tune since at least from my side i dont wanna leave anything out. But yea its due to it producing low energy frequencies that oscillates very less so we cant tell that difference since our range is 20Hz-20kHz so anything closer/on the extreme ends of that limit is hardly audible or noticeable when changed since our eardrums can neither move that slow nor that fast. Hopefully what I said is correct lol, i have an exam coming up so hopefully i know the right thing lolol. Please correct me if I’m wrong lol at least I’ll know the correct answer.

Actually, with a bass, if you play a wrong note, *everybody* notices, even the deafest ones, because there's usually only one bass on stage. And if you miss the time, everybody notices, because it has a rhytm role. Latter is rarely an issue for bowed instruments, since their attack is much more gradual. Bass is typically the instrument which nobody notices until the bassist makes a mistake. Then you can see the importance of having a good bassist: it's the one who won't pull the whole band to the bottom.

This part was so hilarious: Before they even started, Davie said he already answered all the questions. Brett said, "How do you write the answers if you don't know the questions?" (cricket sounds) Davie replies, "Bass is always the answer!" Eddy tricks Davie by asking which instrument is responsible for most historical atrocities. Davie replies quickly, "NOT Bass"! Brett laughs and yells, "Checkmate!"

This video is funny, because there was an interview with a young bassist and a professional legend who both approved how difficult the violin is and the professional also said that he wants to implement different violin techniques into his bass playing, lol. Every musician knows that violin is the harder instrument, but in the end every instrument is just an instrument and the most important thing is that you enjoy playing your instrument.

I think the biggest advantage of modern instruments is just how accessible they are for beginners while simultaneously having such a high skill ceiling for professionals.

Gotta be violin. As an instrument the lack of frets, the imo awkward position to hold and it is probably the most ugly instrument to hear a beginner trying to play. Outside of that finding guitar or bass tutorials online is very easy, tabs and modern guitar learning makes it very accessible. You are far less likely to need tuition which makes it cheaper The skill ceiling is high for both but the entry is very hard for violin imo
