I really appreciate this video because the amount I paid for 3 months of this lady's video's equals what used to pay for one lesson in person, and I never got such a complete explanation of how to work on upbow staccato. Thank you.

This makes sense. In the first technique, large muscle groups are involved, but large muscles are not for fine motor control. Using the little muscle in the hand is much better.

Boa noite! You are very good teacher. I am brasilian.

Mr. Heifetz's Leopold Auer Assist, Sascha Lasserson, taught me superb Staccato in 20 minutes & in full speed!!! One really needs speed & controlled spurts to navigate The Passage of Thirds in Sibelius' Third Movement ascending passage from bottom to top in 'Allegro ma non tanto' speed! If separating each tiny movement one by one, authentic staccato won't happen! I realise you're trying to help other's ~ Elisabeth Matesky (artist-pupil of Jascha Heifetz & Nathan Milstein ~ )

And what about upbow staccato at the frog? I’ve been working on Sevcik’s Op. 2, and it contains slurred staccato exercises that involves playing upbow staccato at the frog and at a fast tempo. I am struggling getting a clean sound, without any of the extra bouncy notes you mention.

The problems you mentioned about tremble way to do the up bow staccato is because you don't know how to do it. Tremble does not means you must get your muscle nervous, to make tremble you don't have directly rigid (stiff )your muscle. Tremble can do only One Direction, either up or down , in Ray Chen' s video he does not explain it clear about this. He Use the word" eliminate" Eliminate the down bow Direction, however, actually they is no down bow movement to eliminate at all once you can really do , really control , that is, no any down bow direction power at all, not having down bow direction rebound as you said, so the sound is clear.

dominant strings and evah pirazzi strings are the best strings. You should buy a Gold Pirazzi for the E string to have a brighter and more beautiful sound. the best rosin (to my knowledge) is gustave bernardel rosin.
@CruelLion7
@CruelLion7 9 жыл бұрын
depends on your fiddle. if your violin is already bright then the gold e will make it brighter. also, if you want a darker sound then go with obligatos.

Fast staccato(machine gun staccato) and slower staccato(the one you use) is different skill. The skill you used is for slower staccato and is not for machine gun staccato (hora staccato) There are different. You can not do it good does not mean it is no good , just means you are not familiar with it Machine gun staccato (hora staccato) is still need for a violinist, so if you don't agree with the first way , you should tell student us how can we do it (since the second way, the method you recommend can not fast enough for Bora staccato) ====== PS I use the fist way to play hora staccato ,with no problem you said As my observation why you feel first does not good is because you use your way(second) to execute it My wrist is up not down,while I am doing the first way And my index finger is not down by the way you used, I raise my wrist and make the base knuckle line arch strengthen so make the index finger down I use this kind of mechanism.to apply index finger pressure so my wrist is up not down So I have no problems you mentioned while I use the first method ======= I use first method only for super fast (machine gun ) staccato, not for slower staccato
