We made big bag skirts out of neoprene coated nylon. Real tough to sew up a one piece skirt that is over 40 foot long on my little sewing machine .I burned out a motor doing it. I see you use segmented skirts which are used on the Scat hovercrafts in our club...The Hoverclub of America. I sold my hover in 1999 and have not been in the club since then but I did watch Bob Windt fly his UH-19 in ground effects many times. Bob is no longer with us but was a pioneer of the club. He made both of my props out of spruce and cut the curves on his bandsaw and I finished them and balanced them in my shop...............cheers, Jim

I built a UH 15P (Modified to 16 ft) back in 1988 and flew it for 10 years. I miss it some times but I don't miss the repairs ..sewing skirts etc.........Cheers, Jim

I have not built a UH unit in its entirety, but had been involved in many builds. Mainly UH17&18s. Yes, tearing a bag skirt is not pleasant. We are using quite durable material on our units. Adds a little more weight but we only need worry when they wear out vs repairs.
