The funny thing is The Barmy Army itself took is so sportingly and other news agencies made a mess out of it . He just was having fun with them as they do with him. Them inviting him to their membership was absolute gold 😂. Bharat army 🤝 Barmy army. They respect good game.

Arpan, u r quite right. Nothing caustic about the B army’s trumpet 🎺 nor was Kholi unfriendly. A bit of an inoffensive joust.

I'm glad to hear there was no hard feelings between Kohli and the Barmy Army. Good analysis by the Final Word as always. I am hoping that India will clinch this final test in Old Trafford, but their previous appearances suggest a draw or loss is more likely. Let's see what happens. This has been a good series and great distraction from seeing the NY Yankees playing hideous baseball this time of the year.

@oitoitoi1
@oitoitoi1 3 жыл бұрын
@@FinalWordCricket He seems to spend every match against India tweeting ridiculous exaggerations and baseless inuendo about Kohli. People of colour can see through this nonsense for it really is as it's the same kind of thing we experience in every day life. There are enormous double standards, Booth perpetuates these, probably not intentionally. His writing for the daily mail is rife with the old stereotypes and attitudes of english cricket toward asian teams. Any time an asian player gives something back in the face of sledging, they're deemed unsporting. Turning pitches are tantamount to cheating, while a greentop is just home advantage, go back and look at his articles from the recent tour to India. Regarding wisden, an animal can't change it's nature. Booth may give lip service towards wanting to change wisden, but perhaps he should examine his own attitudes first.

Whinging Poms will whinge. I don't recall many people coming to the defense of NZ's Alternate Commentary Collective when Indian media and fandom were howling in outrage and demanding formal apologies for The Picture following the WTC. I don't mind a bit of banter, but it better be good and not mean - and if I may offer an alternate take: antics like pulling the finger at the crowd and calling your opposing captain crude names (especially when you're losing quite badly) are not cheeky and humorous, but the behaviour of a petulant brat - Kohli isn't a funny man and it just comes across as petty. Maybe that's who he wants to be a clownish pro-wrestling heel, sore winner, sore loser - maybe that's what Indian fans want to see, but it's a bit rich to cry foul. I wouldn't want my kids to conduct themselves like that - I'd be really embarrassed, to be honest.
