As a dentist, she honestly didn't do that bad. Where she messed up was not ensuring that he was treated by a professional dentist before seeing her. He looks like he needed a good cleaning before thinking anything about cosmetics.

As the certified dental assistant she is, I am certain she knew it would be best for any of her clients to receive a good PROFESSIONAL dental cleaning PRIOR to setting up any appointments for her service but, being that she knows how to cover herself legally, she went right on ahead and traveled the route she selfishly opt to take.

I question all of that for several reasons because as a current danb certified dental assistant of 8 years now, I have to complete certain classes every year with our continuing education in order to keep my certifications. If she's not keeping her certification up to date then she really needs to stop calling herself a dental tech, it makes us real ones look bad.

I think she did a great job. Real dentists match rhe composite to the patients natural tooth color, she did nothing wrong. His teeth were gross cheddar biscuits when he met her.

@@TaeshaReneethe point is he didn’t consent to that. The right thing to do is is to communicate that you’re going to match the teeth. You don’t make choices like that without one’s permission. Even a dentist would let the patient KNOW that the teeth color will be matched. At which point the client can agree to it or not.

The fact that he’s on live talking about he didn’t care if the bottom was yellow has me sick. You’re suppose to do your due diligence before you get any procedure done.

1. He should have never gone the low budget route. 2. He could’ve taken that money, gone to a DENTIST, and start a real treatment plan to get his real teeth in shape instead of covering them up. 3. Despite what he signed, if she was unable to provide the services that “he” wanted, she never should have taken him as a client/customer/patient. Overall, as a good faith measure, she should have simply redone the teeth to show that her business is to satisfy her clients/customers/patients. As a business owner, I feel this is an epic failure by not at least trying to remedy this situation and unfortunately, her business will reflect on this.

Now, maybe she should've let him leave with pearly white tops and piss-yellow bottoms. But the state of his smile and color of his teeth were doing bad all by themselves. I absolutely read the original thread on Twitter where he CHOSE not to get his teeth cleaned because it was cheaper to just cover it up. For all your telling ppl to read and pay attention you seem to only be seeing what you want. He wanted the top covered up with composite veneers. The only thing she didn't do was use white composite and she clearly states that it was because his bottom teeth were yellow. No way this grown man thought he was getting a cleaning and 6 composites for $500. But ofc that logic escapes you bc youre too busy being hurt abt her calling his teeth brown.

Respectfully saying, But I’d recommend Zoo taking the time and seeing an actual dentist and if he has dental insurance that would be the FIRST thing to correct his natural teeth and gums before adding veneers, cause the composites are only as good as the teeth under them, veneers are A LOT of up keep, if you don’t take care of your natural teeth I wouldn’t recommend “composite veneers” cause you’ll only do more damage to your oral hygiene/health…good luck to them both, im rooting for this beautiful black entrepreneur and my G Zoo on getting that Hollywood smile 💪🏼

Working in the dental field for many years, my opinion is see a dentist first. It is extremely important you do not cover up any decay as it can progress rapidly. Also may have other issues to correct, prevent, or control prior. Ultimately a dentist is able to provide this service all though may be higher cost. I guess lesson learned.

They (a real certified dentist office) tried to do the same thing to me once. I have pearly whites (always have) and the dentist assistant said as you grow older your teeth will turn colors! They think they can do whatever they want to other folks bodies. It’s the disrespect for me! Give me a tooth that looks like the rest of my white teeth! Same thing happened to me. This mFing dentist gave me a tooth that was lightly stained yellow at the top and he had the nerve to tell me that natural teeth are that way. Whenever I took pictures smiling I could always pick out that one yellow tooth for years! I got a porcelain tooth for my front tooth and since I could not afford to get my whole mouth done because of one chip tooth, .my dentist matched it to the off-white shade of my natural teeth. That made more sense to me than giving me an optic white porcelain tooth that would never blend in with the shade of my natural teeth. That's why you should brush daily whether you see a dentist regularly or not.

Maybe the laws are different in other states but. I went to school a lot of years and I’m seeing more and more patients come into my practice who went to people that did not. And then I have to correct the work. One. I’d never perform a cosmetic service prior to a deep cleaning. Two. She keeps saying it’s strictly a cosmetic service. Porcelain veneers are also cosmetic and must be performed by a board certified DDS/DMD. In my humble opinion people who open practices like this should be reprimanded. Because as a clinician we focus on the health of the teeth and the patient. These individuals do not care.

@@kayebee9697 yeah that’s why I said porcelain veneers are also cosmetic. My point being just because something is a cosmetic service doesn’t mean it should be done by just anyone. And I agree. I hope he gets his SRP complete, this is why patient education is so important I know everyone wants perfect teeth but health comes first!

I remember reading the thread on Twitter and she did tell him he needed to go get a cleaning. He didnt want one. Made some excuse abt how his smile was affecting his mental health in order to justify getting a quick fix. I'm not saying she's not wrong. But after looking at the before and after pictures he posted in that twitter thread there's NO WAY anyone thought she was a pro. I believe he knew exactly what he was going into (as do many ppl looking to cut corners) and was content w poor oral health as long as his top teeth looked white.

And I’ve had patients tell me they don’t want a deep cleaning and just want whitening, braces, veneers, partials/bridges, etc as well but at some point we have to advocate for the health of the patient even when they don’t. I’m all for patient autonomy, but in this case she shouldn’t have allowed him to move forward with treatment until the perio was under control.

Point blank period as a dental assistant myself all I can say is you have to start with the fundamentals. He himself stated he needed a deep cleaning which means his gums are not even healthy enough to be doing something like this. He should treat his gums then worry about cosmetics, also he should o whiting FIRST before even thinking of placing veneers. How is she a da and doesn’t know this also if he has active decay he should NOT be getting veneers smh!

He should have read the contract and if he read it then there was no need to complained. He got what he paid for and no one pay $100 to get a Hollywood white teeth. He doesn't want to take responsibility of him being ignorant to the contract he signed thinking he would just signed it and if am not satisfied, I will put her on blast on social media. I like what girlfriend did, she made sure every information was written in black and white and if you don't read and sign then you are at fault.

I would never go to any place like that. I’m not saying the place is unprofessional. I just would never have any procedure on my teeth that wasn’t from a dentist. Just as I wouldn’t have filler done by anyone other than a doctor that specialized in cosmetic procedures.
