How to write productively? How to write well?
Writers often need to choose between productivity and perfection. Those two seem to be in contradiction with each other.
That's why it takes years to a great author to write a masterpiece; and it takes minutes to a journalist to write a news article.
Virginia Woolf conquered this contradiction. For 30 years, she read and then reviewed a book a week! She did it for one of the most prestigious literary periodicals - Times Literary Supplement.
In this video, I would like to explore how she could possibly do that for three decades.
I struggle to write and record a video every week, let alone to read, write and publish a book review for a prestigious journal.

This was an incredibly well put together and informative video about an amazing woman. I particularly appreciated what you said near the end about imagining the prolific artists of history. It sort of reminds me of the Green brothers' refrain of "imagine complexly". If I were to say I didn't understand how she managed such a pace it would be hyperbolic. Sure, I have no idea how she physically managed it, but I can relate to the idea of loving something so much you would spend that much time on it. Thank you for adding to my day.

Thank you for your kind words! ❤️ It is hard to imagine. She did have an occasional break for a week or two. She managed to keep the pace, however, for most of those three decades.

I am so glad I found your channel. Your curiosity in learning and life in general is so inspiring and catching. I had to laugh when you said in another video that we must be nerds to click on your videos. I feel so understood. Looking forward to looking through the videos you already made!

Love this channel. The algorithm can be a blessing, it brought me to your work. Every single thing you've done is something I am not just passingly curious about but seriously interested in. And you've studied, digested, written about the subject and presented it. So good. From the commonplace book, to journaling, to stoics to this, bravo! Bravo your work and your way is fantastic. I'd love to hear more about Dante and your yearly reads. Thank you for your work.

Michael, thank you so much for your kind words, and welcome to this community of nerds! :) Haha. I am so glad that people like you discover my channel and enjoy it! I'm planning to come back to Dante and discuss him, just outlining how can I approach it visually :) Thank you for your comment you made my day :)

Rodin had many apprentices. Camille Claudel is thought to have made many (1000s?) sculptures. Rodin’s name -of course- was applied. V Woolf did her own work. Would a woman in the 1900’s even think of putting her name on work that another produced? Thank you so very much for your energy and research and topic. You have a new subscriber.

A great example of how modern way of thinking can reduce an inspiring genius into a mere consequence of a neurodivergence.
