I think Virtual Railfan should do a location in Marion Ohio. It's a great place for railfanning the fact that trains average to come every 20 minutes and there are eight diamonds! Also the NS Sandusky District crosses over the CSX Mount Victory Subdivision and the CSX Columbus Subdivision crosses over the CSX Mount Victory Subdivision. So there would be an east camera and a west camera for two viewing points on all eight diamonds. There is also a museum, a caboose, and a watch tower there. Overall, Marion Ohio would be a great place to put Virtual Railfan cameras.

That MOW machine at Skykomish looked interesting and also, I wondered if the Boxcars at Chehalis with their open doors, were making a last journey? I thought that CSX 8137 looked really good with her classic 'this is exactly as I was built' Workhorse appearance. But I loved the slight wheel-slip of No.89 at Paradise. She is a very nice looking Locomotive.

Is it just my imagination, or does BNSF spend more time than the other major railroads shuffling around blocks of locomotives from one terminal to another?
@kennethhanks671210 ай бұрын
Many other roads often include dead-in-tow locos being transfered in regular freight trains saving the need for a separate move. BNSF chooses to use a separate move which does not interfere with a regular trains make up and operation.

Re. Paradise: Doesn't help with the wheelslip when you're watering the tracks with the injector overflow.
@kennethhanks671210 ай бұрын
Well the stream Is BEHIND the drivers on the way out. Any moisture on track on back up was probably already dried/evaporated in the heat and in any event that is what sanders are for. The main thing the injector is working to keep your boiler water at the proper safe level, the primary conern.

@kardondo The thing is if you consider the thousands (likely hundreds of thousands) of grade crossings in the US and the cost in multiple (often 100s of millions for a single major crossing elimation) there simply is not funding (hundreds of billions at least) available from any and all sources to remove them all in next many lifetimes. For such minor traffic volumn crossings as this one the general public simply has to exercise a little patience and good judgement (just like at many minor road intersections where stop signs make more economic sense than much more costly stop lights.

@pendlechild751610 ай бұрын
Rather than continuing to LA the train was terminated at Tucson and passengers were taken west by bus. Amtrak switched ends for the train to run back to New Orleans as the Sunset #2. There was storm damage to track somewhere between Tucson and LA.
