Spybot used to be good in the early 2000's. I haven't recommended it in years. MalwareBytes and SuperAntiSpyware are far superior to today's threats in my experience.

That virus program helped me and even the malware stuff also helped me. I was able to tweak my system so now it has a faster boot up and I also made it able to connect to the internet much faster

Thanks for the Emisoft recommendation on one of your videos. Ran it last night and identified four suspects. Two had come from Microsoft Store, plus two that had piggybacked on legitimate downloads. I cleared the second two. Then I ran Windows Defender which also identified the Windows Store downloads as suspect! No other viruses detected though, which was good.

I am amazed the leaf blower is not harmful to the delicate parts inside! I like that idea, though, cos compressed air is expensive and the stupid cans never blow consistently enough, and they always go ice cold (cos of the gasses inside). So... if a leaf blower can work... how about a hair dryer on the coolest setting? I have the ones with the "cool shot" button which completely shuts off any heat. That would be a hell of a lot more convenient than canned air or a bulky and noisy (and expensive) leaf blower.

I'd also check for a rootkit which can require some special scanning software as they have a very nasty habit of reinstalling themselves while the machine is booting the O/S. Glad you mentioned dumping the restore points as I've found virus/trojan/worm/rootkit embedding a reinstaller or payload dropper into the restore points. I've been very lucky my personal machines have never been hit by anything I didn't know about immediately when it occurred (zero day drive-by in a web page banner ad). Also glad you mentioned updating Adobe Reader . . . in addition . . . everything Adobe: Flash Player (Active X and Plug-ins for other browsers), Air. In addition to Java Runtime, Skype (if present), All Apple stuff including iTunes and Quicktime, all archive software (WinZip, 7Zip, etc), all browsers and any third party email software. Browser plug-ins should be reviewed for any "helpers" that are, in reality, unwanted hijackers or popup ad annoyances. All common utilities are exploited now. Also glad you mentioned MalwareBytes . . . you can download on another machine the latest updated and put that onto the flash drive along with the installer. It's one of the better ones at finding malware. Kaspersky has a couple free standalone detection and cleanup utilities apart from their A/V software. One of them is the TDSSKiller for rootkits. There is other rootkit detection software as well; the heavy duty detection stuff tends to be standalone (like TDSSKiller). I also run AdAware (free) and Spybot Search & Destroy (free) without permanently installing them. Rather than letting them auto-clean I ask for a report and go from there, investigating what they find first as some of the more benign things they trigger on you may not want to get rid of. John

Hey, it was I who came up with the idea of blowing out the computer with the leaf blower! I own the license to that! I WANT COMPENSATION!! Just kidding Carey. It is such a great idea to use that blower cause some computers come in and are full of dust, roaches and other stuff. I just found this video and I wonder how things worked out for you in this case. I enjoy your videos and think you a do a damn good job on educating people about computers and how to either take care of them or fix them. Keep up the good work man. I remember back in the early 2000's when if you installed Norton Anti-Virus your computer would barely be usable. I would go without it just because my computers were so much faster. Now I just go with something like AVG or Avira free editions.

I agree with you Carey, I have seen it drag down a computer to where you wonder why you would buy a nice rig to see it run like a 6 year old system after the Norton is on it.

I just used the anti virus programs you mentioned and I have to thank you for your videos there very informative and helpful keep them coming

Carey, that virus that was on that PC looked like it was part of the "UKASH" virus. We get them in a lot at work (Or used too), and it's like when the main files somehow got corrupt, or part of the virus got removed by what anti-virus was on there, and therefore leaving a complete white screen. But anyway keep up the great work!

i love malwarebytes i been using it for 4 years now and it seems to find things and remove things that my antivirus sometimes wont find even though i use Microsoft security essentials it dosnt always find everything.

Thanks so much for this video! I've been troubleshooting my Dell 8300 for 3 months with no real idea how to deal with possible viruses. I have Norton 360 but it's not finding anything, yet the system freezes randomly.

Carey, that's a cool idea with leaf blower to clean the computer tower out.

That damn airplane (or whatever) at the 8:45 - 9:00 mark freaked me out, I thought something on MY system was starting to die and making death noises, lol. Every time I watch videos about computers with viruses or malfunctioning parts, I get hyper-paranoid about my own machine spontaneously "getting ideas" from the videos.
