I *loved* that comparison with the sandwich at the beginning! Like Carey, I've struggled with finding a size descriptor that would help clients understand the dimensions of a mini PC. Now I can tell them that most mini PCs are about the same size as two grilled cheese sandwiches stacked one on the other!😋

Well I like the videos and would like them to continue and have no issue in paying for them. For people who can't afford 10 a month is ridiculous that's like $2.50 a week I could find that laying in the road or parking lot. I think should be a higher tier of member 5 or 10$ a week 20-40$ a month I would be happy to pay and I know there are many others that would have to also to keep the channel alive.

Love the channel Carey,i havn`t been able to get into live chat for a while due to time zone differences.I actually got in today and i find there have been changes which looks like i`m locked out of making comments.I saw your quick explanation about why you have implemented changes but sadly i can no longer comment. In all honesty i can`t afford a membership as ive been on a disability pension since 1988,i can afford the occssional contribution but that`s it,i`m basically flying by the seat of my pants.contributions will still continue occasionally but regardless of which way the channel goes i will always enjoy the content,it`s by far the most honest and enjoyable channel on KZfaq,

choppa, I can relate to your situation as I have been following Carey since 2008 but in 2017 I too became disabled due to a double stroke.... all from a severely deformed heart/aorta. I think there are people similar situations as us are useful in the chat but unfortunately our situations aren't Carey's problem. As we are communicating now may just have to be the new norm.

My vote would have been for a new case, Mr. Holzman. At least one that allows its user to see the beautiful components on the inside, which, you obviously decided on and provided. As you know, there are a lot of nice cases for cheap, with nice features that aren't "weird" or "illogical". Thermaltake used to have some fairly nice cases for fairly cheap. The case you used was, while not perfect, being cheaper, obviously is what it is. BTW... the motherboard in that old assembly was a very good, VERY stable motherboard in its time. Extremely durable and dependable. Not overclockable... but that's not the point, obviously. Question? Will we see or at least hear of what it took to resolve the non-boot issue? We watched thus far... why not! Why not? Thanks

I am not a fan of modular power supplies after pluging in the wrong cable in for hard drives and fried my hard drive, doing it in a not well lit environment and doing it by fill to plug it in, lucky I only had one of three hard drive plug in at the time, after that like you I will never buy a modular power supplie again.

Having trouble seeing close? So do I. Maybe you need to add a document camera to the side that you can place whatever there and use your OBS for us and you. I've seen it done on another channel that lectures in geology. (Sort of like your overhead camera, but just for documents.)

Every laptop should be this easy when you open it up. My last Acer laptop was a nightmare of brackets that just were superfluous. Hard to get to the RAM slots...it was crazy to try and fix/or upgrade it. Good job on this one! Easy to fix or upgrade.

I have a DS1512+ still with 3TB drives. When I originally bought this in 2012 I didn’t know I needed red drives so started with two PC drives to get me started for cheap. Though I added three reds later, I’d not replaced the first two. Since I could lose one drive without losing any data I didn’t worry about it - until both original drives failed at the same time - losing my entire work email history from company I’d left, and years of work projects. Oopsies…. Lesson learned.

Yeah, not bad just not updated (os) and needs to have old files deleted. You can bond the ports together, not exactly 2.5gig but it is something. Yeah the add one nic cards are 10gig. Yup, Best solution is have a NAS at one location have a duplicate NAS at another location and sync the NAS units (HA) then do a periodic offline backup.

Thanks for the video. I really would like to see inside this mini pc before buying it. I am hesitating between AMD and Intel offering in Minisforum website. Dual 5G network and multiple cores including efficiency and performance cores plus NPU tells me Intel is better and is $40 cheaper. AMD has dual 2.5G only 8 performance cores and weaker AI cores. AMD has two full size 2280 m.2 slot but Intel has once 2280 and one 2230. 2230 m.2 ssds are 50 percent more expensive so I guess intel loses its advantage in price there. Because Intel has efficiency cores it can be run 24hrs and it will use its 1.2ghz efficiency cores and stay cool and use less power. AMD will use much higher power in idle time. NPU of Intel is very important. We will use more AI either for chatting or generating images. If no NPU, you might wait 15 times longer to do what you want. This Intel offers 150 TOPs of AI power while AMD only 15 TOPs. For comparrison if you generate an image using stable diffusion using a gen 13 i7 processor you might wait 5 minutes. With 15 TOPs cpu you can do it in 30 seconds. With 150TOPs npu it takes on 4-5 seconds. Both of Minisforum latest AMD and Intel offering can encode and decode AV1 in 8k 60p. That is my main motivation to buy one of these.

I'll try to help you with your choice. If AMD doesn't have OCuLink, don't buy it. An important difference between this little guy on Intel is the OCuLink port, which allows you to connect an external video card without problems.
