he was so obssessed with the "special" vampires with unique powers he wouldn't give up on the cullens unless absolutely necessary. there are aspects of the story I appreciate but over all the angsty teen drama with the century and a half vampire pretending to be a teenager is just plain creepy and poorly written. the worst part was the sparkling... a sparkle like sunlight on snow is one thing but the movies made them look like disco balls.... had it been different, bella been older, I may have enjoyed it more.

As he claims, he can sustain by human food; so we could assume he does not sparkle at sunligth... and he is pretty mutch inmortal...maybe not entirelly; but close enougth

He wasn’t scared for his life. He was scared of 1. The vultori falling apart, and 2. That he would lose his chance of adding Bella and Alice to his coven.

actually he does have a shield. renata though not mental like bella is more of a physical shield. she can project a field that confuses people and makes them temporarily forget where they were going or why. people like bella and edward can penetrate the field with their mental abilities how ever. i get your point though. with someone like bella, aro would be practically untouchable

You'd think he'd want the guy who can control the elements even moreso than Bella. He changed the tide of the battle and they were all visibly shocked by his power. His maker kept him well hidden due to knowing Aro would covet him. Though I understand the potential of Bella over time.

They can identify hybrids, they have the same presence of a vampire( everyone that first look Renesme think it was a vampire) but with a heartbeating and warm.

From what I recall reading in an extra bit somewhere (a family tree that Stephanie Meyer published somewhere, maybe?) Marcus's wife had died, and he's just been hanging around and waiting to die ever since.

@@lacymom1109 Yeah I'm pretty sure Aro actually did it. It was his sister who was Marcus's wife. They planned to leave the coven so Aro secretly killed her so he'd stay instead.

Marcus is the least problematic Volturi and actually more like Carlisle, wanting more peaceful solutions to conflict. He notices the bond between people and how loyal they are to each other or groups. So he sees that Nahuel and Renesmee is and will adhere to staying hidden and surviving on both blood and human food.

he also really wants to die. he's stuck in his old age and has been like that for literally ages. he has no interest in fights

marcus' story is really sad as his lover was killed by aro behind his back. The reason for her death being that marcus was so in love with her that he stopped caring for aro's plans to gain control of the vampire world. After her death, marcus was really depressed and suicidal and to ensure marcus' loyalty to the volturi, aro uses Chelsea's power on him (she has the gift to influence the emotional ties between people, she only appears in the books). So you could say that he doesn't care for aro's plans but it's mainly bc he admires the love Edward and bella share as it remind him of what once was

3 months too late but he coven is filled with vamps with abilities he’s always wanted Alice as she is a seer and now wants bella as a shield in his coven.

Well, it was such a major departure from the books. I remember thinking, "No, they can't change the ending this much!" Then the reveal that it was one of Alice's visions, which Aro was able to experience thanks to his ability, I was relieved enough to gasp, too.

How was it in the books?

@@Mohack88 when her shield was finally revealed it was a huge dome over her group. Alacks mist attack revealed its huge size and everyone gasped. Benjamin tells her well done. She realized that if Sam was inside her shield then even the wolves that weren't were protected because of how the pack members were mentally connected. She was also able to wrap her shield into a skin tight layer around everyone she wanted to.

@@Mohack88 well they had to consider time limitations and budget constraints. For instance the audio version of the 4th book is like 16 hours long. You can't get all that detail into 2 movies that are 2 to 3 hours long. But I think they did a decent job getting in as much as they did.

For more context of why aro looked at marcus that way cause he was the one who ordered marcus's wife to be killed because marcus and his wife was going to leave and venture out in the world by themselves so aro went and killed her btw marcus's wife was aro's sister, and after marcus's wife died he was never the same longing for death that never comes, and merely follows the volturi with no enthusiasm he became a literal hollow shell of what he once was aro always felt regretful he had to kill his sister in order for marcus to not leave the coven, and after this vision he felt even mote so

I'd say Alice cos seeing the future would be a lot more useful than a physical forcefield. Bella is handy in fights for sure but seeing the future would trump that.
