Definitely an underrated area. So much to see and do between Reykjavik and Husavik. We stayed here for one night in September 2022. Sadly, it coincided with the only time we had foggy weather during our trip that was affecting the north coast so we didn't get to see much. We would like to go back.

I thought you said rock wool and so I turned on my captions and you did. I worked for a company that bought millions of dollars of this product. Selkirk metalbestos makes chimney pipes that are insulated with rock wool ,Selkirk metalbestos makes all products for heating&cooling HVAC I worked for this company before I became an Electrician many years ago. I had no idea this product came from Iceland.🤔 EDIT::; as I remember Rockwall was used because it has a very high temperature ignition rating!! I would consider it about the most dense of insulations on the market.

I love the concept of seeing Iceland "as is". I visited Iceland for the first time in August. I want to experience it during all of the seasons. Tourism is a double edged sword for me. I understand the need for the economy. It brings in a lot of money and notoriety. On the selfish side, I want to experience nature by myself or at least with only a few people. This looks like a lovely place to see/visit. We drove the ring road and took detours when we could. We spent some time in the Westfjords, Seydisfjordur in the West and we spent two days in the Westman Islands. 14 days wasn't enough. There are so many places I want to explore. I want to see Iceland "as is". Thanks for the videos. I'm sure you are quite busy, but if you have a moment to suggest other locations like the ones in this video, that would be greatly appreciated. Or, can you direct me to specific videos you have made. Thanks so much. Peace, Brendan

Loved this! That town was made for me! I know I've said it before, but definitely need a few of your amazing 10 min animal videos. Horses, shep, the ravens...they're all so relaxing to watch. (So are the drone footage videos of snow removal 😉)

There is video of what appears to be a house on a ridge in winter with many lights near it. What is that? Horse stalls? Beautiful video as usual.

Nice video. I was in June on Drangey with a photography trip to see and photograph the puffins. Very nice after a big climb on the stairs the family made who owns the island. We go there from Skagafjördur with a very quick boat. Greetings from the Netherlands.

Thank you for all the information and the beautiful aerial footage in your videos! Would you have any Iceland travel guide or history or nature book recommendations or warning against poor quality ones? Asking because my husband and I are planning to come to Iceland within the next three years and would like to also read a few nonfiction books, to decide where exactly to spend our two weeks. Greetings from Finland!

We had a nice stay here last summer on our way back from the Eastern fjords. Sauðárkrókur is a very lively small city. We enjoyed the "we will wok you" restaurant and the Mikligarður guest house. Travelling by bus, we unfortunately missed Glaumbaer. If I may be brutally honest on my side, I wonder whether turf housing may experience a second life in a modernized way. The material itself surely has very nice thermic isolation properties and could be much nicer than rockwool in the long run. Of course, extracting too much turf would be devastating for the fragile icelandic soil, so that it probably cannot be a solution for massive housebuilding.

It was in Skagaströnd where I didn't get anything to eat the other day :) ut I like it there, it was however too dark to get footage for a twins video, so I will do Skagaströnd and the whole peninsula later on :)

In your drone flight, a lot of the graves in the cemetery appear to have their own lights. What's going on there? Is that normal in Iceland? I'm not sure whether I've seen that anywhere else.
@JustIcelandic
@JustIcelandic Жыл бұрын
We do this in December, lit up the cemeteries but it can differ between towns how it's done. This looked unusually colourful and that's why I took this detour. On Christmas Eve we bring the candles and thats when they get really photogenic, I will upload such footage around Christmas for my viewers to see this tradition

very cool video. I did one of those big Y dna tests from ft dna.. my closest grave was found in this town. the other guy that matched it, we talked over the internet. I am my name, it is irish.. original from basque. I have no viking history, grave is dated to 850CE (grave TGS-A1). We were seafarers, and I do have brothers in viking apparently.. kingly names. I'll say no more. Would love to cruise there, if there is one. I live in maine usa. Thanks for video.

Interesting video again! Looks like a nice town. Just curious: did this town get affected by earthquakes, avalanches or other natural disasters before? I'm asking this since it doesn't look that far away from Dalvik and the plate boundaries. ☺

This location is not on the main risk zone but got however hit by a large offshore earthquake in 1963, Magnitude 7 and originated by the mouth of the fjord, very unusual but it has something to do with the Tjörnes fracture zone, more here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jrpdoLN5x56qZZs.html
