We take a trip to another homestead to pick up some 5 more ducks for to live on our pond. The homestead we visit has several types of livestock.

I'm sorry if some of the audio quality may not be very good at the beginning. I didn't take a external microphone with me when we went to visit the other Homestead.

How nice to see you show patience with your new ducks and let them take their time to check things out before moving into the duck-house.

Yeh, ducks are an entertainment system all their own!! My grandma used to feed me rabbit when I was a little shaver, back in the '50s.Peacocks LOVE grass hoppers. I used to cut a man's high grass that was filled with hoppers, and as soon as I would start the mower, a peacock would come running and eat like a pig! Your audio was just fine ...

If you want to integrate them, the alpha duck on that new flock needs to be dinner.

Geese are an excellent security for your farm. They are more alerts and keep your duck more safe. Noisy, they are.

Enjoyed the video, hope the new ducks settle down and mix in with your old ducks. Also hope the one with the gimp leg gets better. They are fun to watch and they also taste good, you might warn the new mean one;-)

Very cool. My wife got a few ducks as "pets" a while back here at our suburban homestead (not our 35 acre property). We had a "kiddie pool" in the back yard for them and we used to feed them a little bit. Most of the time they would leave for much of the day and "come home" every evening. We used to love sitting on the back porch and you would hear them coming. 1 by 1 they would land in the "kiddie pool" and spend the night there. They were so tame that at any time my wife would be able to go pick up any one of them (we only had 3) and they wouldn't really care. My only problem with them that I didn't like was they would defecate all over the back porch. Sadly 2 of them were killed and we took the last one out to a friend's farm that had ducks and a large pond. Moral of the story... ducks are great out in the country... not so much in a suburban area. P.S. the eggs are really good.

Everytime I see your guys home and pond it just calms me lol. Loving all the content lately. You think about locking the ducks all together for a week in the old chicken area? That might make them re-establish the pecking order? Your bow season start up yet over there? Hope to see more videos soon guys.

Great video. To get the ducks to integrate you may have to lock them in the same tractor at night for a while. It may seem cruel but the pecking order will be established and they're more likely to mix. If you have a large pond ducks are the best animals to have they are very enjoyable. Thanks for the video, Jimmy

That is possible. He is still limping, we may need to catch her and look at the foot. That may be difficult.

I guess the moral of the story is don't take ducks from another flock expecting to keep all your ducks in one row.

How do you keep the ducks safe at night?
@CountryViewAcres
@CountryViewAcres 4 жыл бұрын
They just sleep next to the pond near the house. If there is danger they get in the water. In the winter they usually stay on the water at night, and keep an area unfrozen.

The last 25 seconds of the video was from the first day we got them. Me speaking at the end was from a couple days ago. I tried not to show the grass growing behind the house. Saving it for another video. But it is growing.
