EVBox released their 400 kW charger this winter and there are only a couple of public locations in the world where you can test one. Nander and I visited Toulouse and met up with the local EVBox/Alizé crew to test several vehicles at the EVBox Troniq Modular, both the newest 400 kW generation and the "older" ones that are mostly found with 180-240kW in total.
We were on a French tour with the BMW iX1 and EVBox brought a Hyundai IONIQ5, charging them together wasn't as effortless as we hoped!

Kinda reminds me of a charger from Allego that was near to a school and had to turn off during the day because of the noise.

I have a 50 kW charger behind my house; it's silent. If I had a station like this one it'd have had an accident by now.

Not a good advert for the BMW: iX1 has a very low voltage and it suffers at all DC chargers. Maybe the charger is splitting current allocation, and with the iX1 only at 300V it doesn't get as many joules per second as it is less than half the voltage of the ioniq.

actually, the numbers really would work if the charger was allocating current at 100A units: 60 kW would be 2*100A and 30kW would be 1*100; 160 on an ioniq is also 2*100, isn't it. BMW's choice of a substandard battery voltage hurts the vehicle -and i say that as an owner. Day to day it's irrelevant as AC charging is fine. it's just crippled on DC, especially on 50 kW chargers we have in the UK where it's limited to 38 kW. get to a 75 kW charger and your rate almost doubles

@@SteveLoughran Totally depends on brand/manufacturer of a 50kW charger... I've tested on Delta 50kW and it pulled 49,3 kW while testing the car.

Does the machine require high voltage to be able to output more? Does your BMW support over 400v? Let us know once you figure out the reason

Ix1 has.a 300V battery and so needs lots of current to charge. On chargers with restricted current (50kW fixed at 125A) then it underperforms
