Hey Felix!
@electricfelix9 күн бұрын

10:32 What does he say? Cold ironing?
@electricfelix24 күн бұрын
I know very little about vessels but we have to assume cold ironing indeed: "Connecting ships to the onshore power supply and shutting down the gensets in order to decrease exhaust emissions and noise. Cold ironing was adopted for many decades in naval bases where ships may be docked for long periods."

It looks like the Taycan is limited to <350A, that's why it's not pulling more power at 400v, it's basically using half of what it can do at 800v. The new Taycan must be 400A for 320kW so it can probably pull 150kW.

I had this Ioniq (in white) 6 years ago. I drove it for almost 2 years, then changed to Tesla M3. Now I have again an Ioniq Classic as our second car. And it feels so good. This car has great features and is still competitive today. I could not find a better second hand car.

I filled up my Porsche Panamera with Premium Unleaded in 1/4 of the duration of this video. Tell me again why EV's (powered by electricity but sourced entirely by coal, natural gas, petroleum, and diesel is better? And don't get me started on wind turbines that never, ever pay for themselves and the energy required to make them!
@SISTIC16 ай бұрын
Supposedly to reduce harmful fumes escaping into the atmosphere-global warming stuff. But you’re right, electricity is mostly produced via combustibility, which contributes to the very thing governments want to reduce: harmful gases! But the way things are going we’ll all be long dead by a nuclear WW3 exchange anyway!
@hadiorabi6925 ай бұрын
In an ICE the engine converts only 25% of the energy generated from fuel. The rest goes to heat, which affects other components of the car. In en EV, the energy consumed by the powertrain itself is close to 90% and only 10% is used as heat. So components last way longer, and utilization for our finite resources is much higher (I personally care about the first part more tbh)

My 0-60 in 5 seconds Taycan is cheaper to run than my old 1.5l diesel A-class. Is that a good reason? I charge it overnight so I never have to stop anywhere to fuel my car. Good reason?

That's a joke! You are happy with only 88 or 90 kilowatts? The Tesla's can charge at 170 or even more.
@AndrasPataki-yw7xj5 күн бұрын
Sure and it drops to 60 when the battery is around 70%. You should only care about the average charging speed not the peak. Not to mention tesla doesn’t has a van to buy.

What an *incredibly* dangerous device. I can see a whole pile of ways in which this could lead to serious accidents. It's essentially a man-sized set of shears combined with a hard-to-spot surprise piece of street floor and that overhanging lip is really just asking for it. I wonder how many accidents this device has already caused in the places where it was deployed.

The output is limited to 500 amps. As the i7 is a 400v system (likely a bit lower depending on the soc), it can't reach 200kw.
