Recently, our crew returned from spending 10 full, beautiful days on The Big Island. We drove almost 2,000 miles, spent time visiting sites on the North, South, East, and West sides of the island, and fell in love with the Aloha Spirit that The Big Island bleeds.
The Big Island (as the name implies 😉) is BIG, and it is our hope that by sharing thoughts, tips, tricks, and recommendations based on the places we got to, you will be able to walk away from our video feeling enlightened and empowered. Use our suggestions as a springing board to create an island plan and itinerary that works best for you and your family!

This was hands down the best video of its kind. You are down to earth, genuine and smart. Such a pleasant break from the “expert” YTs whose Final Cut Pro skills far outweigh their sincerity. Thank you so much for sharing your family’s adventure. We are headed there next week with our toddler, I’ve left planning to the last minute and I nearly feel like I don’t need another source.

@@follow.the.whisperI visited three islands, Maui, Kaui and the Big Island, Hawaii is absolutely beautiful especially the waterfalls, my favorite part of the visit was the road to Hanna that was amazing!

I really liked the way you laid out this video. Your explanations were very informative & descriptive. Made me a bit nostalgic as we were lucky enough to go there in 1998 when Debbie was a senior with Marching Band. We stayed on Oahu but did day trips to both the Big Island & Maui. Thinking of going back to do a cruise around the Islands for our 50th Anniversary next year. Fingers crossed! Great video!

@@follow.the.whisper If you're talking about when Doug was in the Navy, he was never stationed there, only passed thru Pearl Harbor on the way back from Guam in 1974. The only time either of us were there was in 1998. And we did do Volcanos Natl Park, Thurston Tube & Akaka Falls. Toured the Mauna Loa Macadamia Factory & did Germaine's Luau in Oahu. And some other touristy stuff, so your videos brought back lots of memories. You guys are definitely an adventurous bunch!!

@@follow.the.whisper After we got married in 1975 & being in Norfolk about 8 months, we were transferred to the Naval Air Station Bermuda where we stayed for 3 years. It was beautiful, made lots of friends but was considered isolated duty at the time. We were so young & went there with basically nothing. Cruised back there in 2000 & again when you all went along in 2003. We need to get back again.

Wonderful video felt like I was there .. I have been to California twice before and every state in between, and have been on 5 cruises but always wanted to go to Hawaii. Don’t know if I will get there before I’m gone, but would like too. 👍💯❤️

When you go anywhere that has mosquitos before you go start taking garlic pills and take while your there that will help, when you sweat they will not like the smell. That’s what I do living in Florida

Wow, I never thought of that before! Do you stink when you sweat, though? I'm quite a sweater, so I think my husband might be as repelled as the mosquitos. HAHAHA

My dad used to get 13 weeks vacation every 5 years. We would load up the car and not get back until right before school started
