During our time in Klaipeda, we got to do something extra special: we visited the Curonian Spit! This narrow strip of land is a national park that stretches 98 km long--the northern half of the land is part of Lithuania, and the southern half is part of Russia.
We stayed on the Lithuania side and spent the day exploring this beautiful national park. With stunning beaches, lush forests, and bright blue waters, we were SO happy we got to see this incredible geographical region for ourselves. We didn't even mind the cold weather!
Thanks so much for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe :)

So basically you just crossed the bay and that's it. Missed opportunity to see Dead Dunes, Nida, Golden Dunes. It costs 20 euros to enter to that part of Curonian Spit, but the views are definitely worth it!

20 euros on season, usually, after the season ( like right now) it would cost only 5 euros. :)

@@JackandGabExplore Well, maybe 50 km with a bike (100 in total) would be too much. It is best to rent a car if you want to stop at most beautiful places ;)

Isn't 20 Euros ecology fee for cars only? If you take a bus or a bike, should not cost you anything.
@evir3808
@evir3808 4 жыл бұрын
@@zhannad750 Yes, that is true, but with a bike it's too far and the bus doesn't stop at every touristic place, only at the main villages as far as I know.

That bar on the beach was sauna. And sauna is open only on friday, saturday and sunday 😊 it's very fun after sauna run to cold sea 😄 You must see Nida and Karkle - Olandu kepure (there is a big scarp. On the top you can see Baltic sea from high. It's very beautiful, and so romantic in sundown time. And all beach have a lot of stones). 😍😍😍 P.S. I am from Klaipeda and I know here everything 😅 our city is very small and is very cute cause you find us ❤ Very beautiful video. Thank you ❤

Saw your video on Vilnius and ended up this one. Happy to see the Spit again and memories flash. I visited Nida on 2019/8/30-31, quite memorable days with beautiful beach and a cute town. I took the bus from Kaliningrad, RU to Nida and Nida to Klaipeda.

I really enjoyed your Lithuanian travels! I went there last year to Vilnius, Klaipeda and Palanga, as well as Trakai. I also went to Meat Lovers and had a really good hamburgers and a "milkshake". If you ever go back to the Spit definitely check out Witches Hill. It has great wooden carvings of old Lithuanian folklore. I loved it. As well as Trakai castle! Thanks for the great videos.

Hi, you are great! Welcome to our Baltic community ))!!!... a few words about this particular place: This is a unique national park and a lot of things which are so common to any seaside resorts are prohibited there , for instances - permanent snack bars, places to rent some bathing equipment are very limited on Lithuanian side and are prohibited on the Russian side of the national park simply because of the Dune destruction. The Dune is like a living creature "breathing" and moving all the time. The phenomena of sand which is constantly "wondering around" and too much pressure can ruin this beauty. From the Russian side of the National park it is strongly prohibited to walk along the beach and the shuttle busses with tourists are limited in time and areas which are open for a walk. There is also a fantastic place - "Dancing forest" where the pine trees are curling their trunks in strange and unnatural way , and scientists are still searching for proper explanation "why" Anyway, good luck to your project and enjoy the northern beauty of our land)))))

I've been there! Been on that ferry, walked that same beach, and that Spa you walked into is part of the culture of the spit! During the soviet occupation it was a real Health/Spa type of destination for those who could go. The beaches are covered with tiny bits of amber, also! We took the bus down to Nida, the last Lithuanian town before you get to the Russian border. Very much a health-spa town! The forests you walked through are filled with wild mushrooms and truffles, we saw "truffle-hunters" there, people collecting truffles to sell to the markets. My husband is of Lithuanian descent, his grandparents migrated to Toronto when they were young.

I was here in February, but on the Russian part of the Curonian Spit, truly amazing place. And yes I needed a Russian visa for that, I spent 5 days in the cities Kaliningrad and Zelenogradsk, and also spent a day trip at the sand dunes at the Curonian Spit. After that I took a bus from Kaliningrad to Klaipeda where I spent 2 days before taking the ferry home to Sweden, from Klaipeda. Really liked that city too, but Kaliningrad had more to see and do.

Yeah we've heard the Russian side is amazing but it's pretty hard to get a Russian VISA so we'll have to plan ahead to do that
@vaultkeeper2
@vaultkeeper2 4 жыл бұрын
@@JackandGabExplore Not that hard, I got mine from the Russian Consulate in Gothenburg, Sweden. But yes it will certainly have to be planned ahead. Also the Lithuanian side of the spit is amazing, in the area right before the Russian border, around the village of Nida. I was on that side back in 2013, the only part of the Lithuanian side that match up with the Russian side. There are plenty of Russian embassies and consulates in Europe where you can apply for visa, normally it takes a few days to get it. Did you know you can go to the Republic of Belarus without a visa nowadays? If you fly in and out of Minsk, you can stay up to a month without visa. Not Russia though.

The waters located between continental Lithuania and the Curonian Spit which you called "Bay", "River", or "Sea" are actually a lagoon called Curonian Lagoon. Also the Curonian Spit is not an island, it is a type of penisula, called spit or sandspit.
