Henry Ford's Greenfield Village, also known as "The Henry Ford" in Dearborn Michigan, has been one of the most requested places for me to visit on Randomland, and today for the first time ever, I have finally made it to the amazing historical village comprised of 100 historic buildings such as The Wright Brothers bicycle shop, Henry Ford's Childhood Home, Abe Lincoln's courthouse and so much more.... SO much more in fact that I don't even know how to explain this place in words, it must be seen in the episode! It's not just buildings either! From Abraham Lincoln's Ford Theater chair to Rosa Park's famous Bus, from the Wienermobile and Rare Fords (Model A, Model B, Model S, Quadricycle etc) to Mold-o-Rama machines and amazing historical artifacts, the museum blew my mind! And all of this is without even mentioning epic Train rides and Model T rides, Omnibuses, a vintage Carousel, Edison's lab.... This is a doozy!

My Grandpa retired from Ford and started working at Greenfield Village in the late 80s and 90s. He mainly worked as an actor in the Wright Brother’s Bike Shop and The Eagle Tavern. I grew up going to the museum and the village. It’s been years but I would love to see them again.

I was lucky to have visited the Village & Museum once or twice a year while growing up near Dearborn, Michigan. My Father was one of the first graduates from the Henry Ford Trade School. Your tour and descriptions were fabulous ... well done, sir!!!

This video makes me happy. I grew up half an hour from The Henry Ford, we had season passes every year during my teenage years, and I still want nothing more than to be able to work there, but it's just not in the cards. That place is my Happy Place.

Ok, all of this video was spectacular, but I nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw the Mold-a-Rama! When I went to Disneyland as a youth, I got several of the iconic characters! I could smell the hot wax, as you were getting your own moulded prizes! What I wouldn’t give to have a moulded Mickey, Donald, or Goofy again!

My husband and I used to work there! I managed the museum gift shop and my husband was a presenter in the village as well as a vintage baseball player. The best job ever! Jobs are part time there so we had to grow up and get full time jobs or honestly I’d still be working there! We have a membership and go quite often as we live 10 min away! It would have been exciting if we were there the same day you were. Wonderful video thank you

The Henry Ford, and Greenfield Village are like nothing else. We’ve been going there for years, plus I’m a pretty big Ford fan. Some of the Model T’s used to give rides, were actually reproduced in 2003 for the 100th anniversary of The Ford Motor Company.

When you go back, first make sure to have a couple of days to REALLY enjoy everything. and second, leave a few extra days to visit the Bavarian Village of Frankenmuth, about two hours north of the village. If you REALLY want to experience something special in Michigan, head about 4 hours north and see Mackinac Island, an important site during the war of 1812

When I lived in LeClaire IA. (American Pickers, W.F.Cody, last Wooden hull Steam boat, James J. Ryan & Jr. -seatbelt & 5mph bumper - Jr.- black box flight recorders) the gentleman across the street from us restored model A’s and T’s and all kinds of vintage vehicles, they went in his garage 100% rust and came out 100% assembly line new. His restorations were respected world round.

Oh wow!!! I haven't lived in Michigan in around 40 years, but that quick glimpse in the schoolhouse was instant time travel! I’m so glad you enjoyed your visit here! I feel like I practically grew up at Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford Museum. If you ever want to come back, I would recommend Memorial Day because they have CW reenactors camp out all weekend, during the Christmas season because all the homes are decorated beautifully ( the village exudes Christmas magic), or in April because all the lambs at Firestone Farm have just been born so you can meet day old lambs.

At 17:32 that was Thomas Edison’s grandfather’s house from Vienna Ontario. My wife’s grandfather was a cousin to Thomas. They literally picked up the house and put in Greenfield Village. Some wicker furniture that’s in storage as well is there in Dearborn. Thanks for sharing the video Justin! 👌😎

This is a very good overview. Ford famously said, “You may have any color car you want, as long as it is black.” Most people do not know WHY Mr. Ford selected black. It was to simplify the manufacturing process AND because the black paint dried faster, thus, the automobiles could be produced more quickly (efficiently).

I absolutely love the fact that everywhere that the model tees drive, there’s like a trail of oil drops. So wholesome. And definitely gives off that Disney World vibe. Can’t believe how affordable those little plastic pieces are as well. The first time I ever saw one was a few years ago at the pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. I would obviously get the wienermobie as well.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit! It is my favorite place. I came on school field trips when I was growing up about an hour and a half away, and then when I moved to within 2 miles, one of the first things I did was buy a membership. It's a great place to bring out of town visitors, or just to come for a walk on a sunny weekend. It's great at Halloween and Christmas. If it makes you feel better, in 12 years of fairly regular visits, I still find things I swear I have never seen before, and learn something new on almost every visit. The presenters are great!
