Күн бұрын

On the 1st of October 1938, the German army crossed the borders of Czechoslovakia to occupy its first territory - Sudetenland. One of the largest cities of this occupied district was Reichenberg, which will become Sudetenland's new capital. Interestingly, most Czechs nowadays wouldn't be able to point out on the map, where Reichenberg was. It's not that the city disappeared. It till today exists, under a completely different name: Liberec. In today's video, we will explore the history of Reichenberg and how it was connected to WW2 Czechoslovakia. Don't worry! We will also show you some cool things to do in Liberec in case you decide to go there for a day trip from Prague!

You are the best, most personable tour guide on KZfaq! Due to health, I no longer am able travel. So I travel vicariously by watching videos. None of the other hosts can match your wit and personality. I would love it if you did videos on other countries. Like Lithuania, Finland and other Northern European states. Maybe create a new channel.

A nice introduction to this part of Bohemia by a very pleasant young lady guide. The humorous presentation without the God-awful over-the-top American style is greatly appreciated. 😊 Sadly, during my traveling years, I never seized the opportunity to fully cover the Czech Republic even though I had an expat Moravian friend who traveled back many times. Only 1 visit - to see the birthplace of my ancestors who emigrated first to Saxony and thence to Australia in the 1860s. I also enjoyed Prague - well apart from having my small stills camera stolen by a young lady pickpocket in the castle. 🙄 😉

On 10 May 1945, while in American captivity in the barracks of Pilsen, Heinlein committed suicide by cutting his veins with his broken glasses. He was buried anonymously in the Plzeň Central Cemetery. His mother, Hedvika Anna Augusta Dworatschek (Dvořáčková), was the daughter of a family of Czech and German Bohemian origin. weird!

There is nothing controversial about benes decrees and expulsion of germans, after the ww2 and the things the germans did, they were very lucky that they were allowed to leave. It may look cruel now, but try imagining living through ww2 as a czech.

You are talking about civilians that were born there and you support ethnic cleansing which is a crime against humanity
@kostihouse
@kostihouse Жыл бұрын
@@jerrymiller9039 the only ones doing ethnic cleasing were the germans. And most these civilians supported mr adolf. And as i said before, if you were a czech during ww2, and the germans for example killed your whole family, you had little reason to have any sympathy for them. And no, im not supporting murdering of civilians.
@jerrymiller9039

@@kostihouse When you drive out a group based on their ethnicity such as German then yes you are ethnic cleansing and yes the Czechs did that AFTER the war.
@kostihouse
@kostihouse Жыл бұрын
@@jerrymiller9039 you can call it whatever you want, but in my opinion the germans should consider themselves lucky that after ww2 their whole country wasnt just splitted to pieces and the people werent moved (not hurt) somewhere to the end of the world. After what they did, it would be perfectly justifiable.

Hitler was the Christ,he was a witcher this events happened right after the Christ events in Jerusalem. Cause History laps of times are not as they wright in the books. Ernesto Cheguevara was God,a great ninja. The other czech must be a angel and those facilities a way to go to heavens or an other paradise. The geniuses,salvage gods,like me we prefer to stay on earth or to go into the void.
