Fun fact, the tongue is forked so they can smell on which side things are. They don't see as well as we do, but compensate by smell and many snake species can sense heat, which is why the food needs to be properly thawed. If it isn't warm enough they don't recognize it as food (And they can be wayy too picky about that 😅)

I do hope the snakes have better vivarium enclosures when they're not in the cafe section as those boxes are not adequate for full time living (usually used for transport only) and snakes need enrichment, hidey holes, and plenty of water. The albino (orange) cornsnake looks just like my old sweet boy, the late great Jonathon, who lived until he was nearly 14 🧡🧡🧡

I was thinking the same thing. They probably have 'visiting hour' enclosures and take them in better ones at the end of the day. I would also like to see if the snakes maybe only had a few times a week out in cafe, so they switch which snake has a cafe day and snakes that has rest days

When it's time for a break, the snakes are put into cages that are larger and darker with hiding spots. This was posted on the cafe's Twitter along with a video.
@UltravioletNomad2 ай бұрын
Yeah Mudan didn't film them, but I believe you can see a wall of vivariums in the background just before the feeding.

Reminds me of a local mall that had one of those giant albino girthy bois outside the rainforest café that you could hold and get photos with. Have me a life long appreciation for danger noodles.

You can tell snakes are defensive if they shake their tails, are opening their mouths and/or hissing, are tense, are watching you intensely, or are striking at you. If they bite without striking, they think you are food or smell something tasty on you. A calm snake is either still and relaxed or explorative and curious.

Ok first thoughts.... enclosures are SO TINY and horrible, BUT super clean so I'm guessin they have a normal habitat somewhere else? Hopefully?

Was hoping to see a boomslang go maximum overdrive into glass but I suppose this wouldn't be the right channel for that. Or the right cafe considering what a boomslang's bite can do.

Snakes are just silly idiots. The only time theres danger is if you startle them, or it's something like a Burmese python, which is strong enough to kill you by accident if you're holding it. Which is why if it's a big snake you always have two people in the room when handling

I think I was healed by the snakes, they're so cute! Although I was surprised that it was kinda pricy to touch a snake, aren't there places where you can do that for free? LOL. Maybe not in Japan. It's cool they gave you a towel though, reptiles do have an incredible ability to projectile poop, and it gets EVERYWHERE if you're touching them at the time. Also you calling a ball python a big snake made me chuckle as a reticulated python lover :D

I hope that those snake get to go more natural cages at times to spend time and be real snakes, especially when those snakes shed. Other than that... They have clean setup, snakes look healthy and this is one of those animal cafes that should be okay and hope it doesn't support animal abuse. . It would have been nice to know does all those snakes have to always be on those small containers and who breed the snakes, but I guess if they didn't have good environment, there would be more clear shedding injuries etc. Actual snake expert would know better, I only know reptilian basics. . Also... It's funny how Mudan is so much a city boy he didn't even know snakes need to smell with the tongue. xD

It seems like the snakes are not kept somewhere else after closing.... They need places to hide and feel safe as well as places to climb or burrow depending on the breed. MUDAN... thank you for these videos though, they let me know WHERE TO NOT GO or where to go like the bunny cafe! It's like investigative journalism.
