One thing I was not expecting when I went was that I saw what each of the actors involved in the war have taken as their bounty for getting rid of ISIS. The US took the oil, Russia took the ports, and Iran took the high quality sand/dirt to make concrete in their factories in Syria. Everyone seems to have a “piece of the pie” except for Syria

Well the whole location was covered in sand until 1947, so most probably had no idea what was underneath. Not sure how I misjudged the Turks here…?

Well, ottomans completely rebuilded Constantinople to erase its greek history. Nothing that any other country wouldn't do as well but definetely not history and heritage lovers
