I followed you and understood you well on "Step 1" video, and also followed you on this video up until "principle 4". I did see how you painted "C". But I did not get how or why you painted the beginning of each chromosome segments the way that you did. I will watch this video and all of the others over again and hopefully I will figure it out! Thank you for making these videos!

I am new to Virtual Phasing. Can you explain a little more in depth as to why you can extend the orange and the purple on B. Thank you!

I extend the lines across the chromosome bars because the color will only change at a recombination point. So we extend the color until we get to a recombination point that B owns.

I am still confused about extending. How do you determine the starting and stopping points and extending?

You can extend any segment until it hits the next recombination point belonging to that sibling.

I have a question about my first colored lines. I started on the right side of person C at a C and extended left to the next C. I don't know whether the colors should go to the right side of the C space or the left side of the C space. Help? Without knowing that, it could change everything!

I love your videos - very useful. But in my own visual phasing of three full siblings, on several chromosomes, I find that at certain places two pairs do not match at all, but the third pair only half match each other. Surely the third pair must fully match? The longest section with this is about 27 million.

There might be a "hidden" recombination in there. This is something that needs to be resolved with matches.

Why on Gedmatch it shows 1.09 mesoamerican, 0.26 samoedic and 0.58 north amerindian but it doesn't show on ancestry dna?

Because they don't have a reference population that is that specific.

Usually I'm able to follow your videos. In this one there are too many assumptions that the viewer understands why you've taken the next step. I'm not hearing you give a clear rationale for each step. Maybe it will make more sense after I watch a few more presenters.

You're not alone in struggling with Visual Phasing. It's a challenging concept and my wife has worked to help me make more sense in videos. I agree. Where one action is explained then the next action does not appear to follow the same pattern as the first action. Obviously my interpretation of the pattern was wrong but speaking out loud the reasoning in each case would help me.
