I would check the load on the complete circuit first. Lower wattage or LED bulbs will decrease the current draw and trigger the burned bulb signal. See if you can measure the correct value of the known good on another car. I did it on 126 a while back and traced it to the front lights.

I once had it happen because number plate light had a 5 watt bulb instead of 10 watt. Good luck!

Hey Vito, I have had this issue on a few of my 124's too. They are very sensitive to having the correct Wattage of bulb in every bulb fixing. On my E220, the fucking shaggy car kept on spitting the orange warning light like yours, eventually I replaced every rear bulb and the boot bulb with factory spec mercedes bulbs from the dealer and cleaned all the bulb contacts, job done over here in the UK. Common problem really. Hard to check if the trunk bulb goes off when it should too. AMAZING work as usual Vito, much love.

I think these are resistance balance comparator units so check resistance in each of the pairs. Both lamps in each pair must be almost the same. You may need to get some lamps from the same place (and manufacturer) and change in pairs giving the best chance of a balanced match. As the warning light is on when you turn on the ignition it won't be the brake lights.

Yes perhaps a wrong wattage bulb, or maybe the instrument cluster contacts?

Try to sprey fuse box with wd40,it help for me...rear bulbs need to be 10w,think you already know that

3rd brake light maybe or reverse lights? Put phone camera outside to check or mirror.

Check the city/driving light bulbs in the headlights. they are a small 3W bulb just below the headlight bulbs.

Inside the headlamp is only two bulbs. 1 low/high beam and one fog lamp bulb

My w124 is a grey market European import. So I have a third bulb for city lights. It is a small 3w bulb the plugs in directly below the headlight bulb in a separate socket. Also could be the headlight switch (part # 000 545 62 04 MBZ or wiper relay (part # - 201 821 00 47), both of these can affect the voltage to the bulbs which will cause the fault light to come on. Lastly, try replacing all the taillight bulbs (turn signal, reverse, brake & rear fog light bulbs) with the factory replacement equivalents. Even if they work, if they are the wrong voltage it will cause the fault light on the dash to illuminate. This literally just happened to me, as I put a larger watt bulb in my rear parking light bulb, and it caused the fault light to go on. As soon as I replaced it with the factory rated bulb, no more dash light. Hope that helps

I have changed every bulb in my w124 to led and it has gone crazy, it burned 3 times my interior dash lights switch until i set a bigger fuse and the car sometimes keeps the hazard lights flashing even when i lock my car. Don' t know, thinking about going back to halogen.

That’s a strange problem. I’ve never experienced or seen something where the exterior LEDs would burn your cluster

Hey Vito...I just got my 89 300e back from the mechanics after doing as lot of preventive maintenance and body work. The issue now is that ALL the lights (warning lights) come on every few minutes and then go off for a few minutes. New battery was installed as well....any clue on what it could be? I dont wanna go back to mechanic and pay an arm and leg again 😂 Thanks

Hi there. Thank you for loving your W124!! Try checking your charging voltage. Have you done that? Your alternator or voltage regulator could be going out

@@VITOSGARAGE after last night's drive its idling pretty rough and all the warning lights have stayed on. Notice interior lights dimming and coming back to normal. Alternator? Spark plugs? Thank you

@@VITOSGARAGE I think it's random but sometimes I see some change in its brightness when pressing the brake. Most of the times when I switch on the headlights the lamp stays on, and after some time it disappears and appears. I thought it might be something from the brake pedal but I can't tell for sure ...
