A contemporary folk fusion band from Maharashtra formed by a generation of young artists, with a vision of celebrating and representing the ancient wisdom of life and living, through a blend of modern music and poems written by the great omniscient saints
The name ‘Abhanga Repost’ in itself describes their unique concept of reposting, the abhangas - meaning ‘the indestructible truth written in words’, with the intent of bringing back the practically and spiritually rich erudite knowledge in limelight yet again with new avatar amalgamating with melodious music.
Going from local gigs to global fame, they have been covered by many newspapers praising by saying, “Blend it like Abhanga Repost”!
Compositions such as: ‘Deh Dewache Mandir’, ‘Dev Bajarcha Baaji Paala Nahi re’, ‘Amhi Bhi Ghadlo Tumhi Bhi Ghadana’ along with reciting names of the saints who wrote this, Abhanga Repost infuses into us the flavors of positive energy straight from century-old poems, keeping us humming them with a satisfactory spiritual smile! Abhangas are poetry written by the Poet and Saints from Medieval Era and pre Modern Era performed as a part of Maharashtrian Culture. Abhanga Repost as the name explains 'Repost' i.e. replace Taal by incorporating Modern Instruments. This folk fusion is the bands way of offering reverence and also help in sustain these culturally significant abhangas and make them popular among the younger generation by presenting them in a form that appeals to them.
