​@@ferluischThere's absolutely zero chance this is cheaper than the Mocopi. While the Mocopi uses IMUs to roughly estimate its position in space based on change alone this thing uses 2 high quality cameras and a decent CPU per tracker to help figure out its position.

They need to make it cheaper! Oculus is accessible to the everyday consumer. $130 per vive tracker IS ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS

@@jasong782 There are alternatives, Tundra trackers are roughly $100 per tracker but must be purchased in a minimum of 3. Do take into consideration research and development, manufacturing and additional costs going into creating these before you're quick to judge. I am not aware at this time of Meta having any competitive alternative and they themselves had to reduce the cost of their $1500 pro xr headset just to remain competitive with HTC's XR Elite.

OpenXR, self tracked tracker, up to 5 connected on a dongle? This is actually something the VR community wanted! Congrats, now price and battery life might be the biggest deal breaker, but it's progress :) Keep lighthouses based hardware, both are great and have their benefits

@@Optimus514 For VR headsets Lighthouse is definitely keeping cost up, but for full body tracking? Under 1000 USD for a laser-based mocap setup is quite affordable. I can see Valve moving away from Lighthouse as their primary tracking method, they have stopped production and left that to HTC after all. HTC as well, they only have Lighthouse on their Pro line.

@@Optimus514 lighthouse is still the most reliable of all tracking setups, two lighthouses diagonal from eachother cover a full 360 degree playspace, meaning you wont lose tracking until you block off both lighthouses. there's a reason why people who very much enjoy vr usually upgrade to a lighthouse setup.

@@rangerkayla8824 @Ranger Kayla base stations only break when moved around while on. quest 2 tracking does not keep track of your controllers when they are behind your head and back, only 3dof and accellerometer data is sent back to the headset to approximate positioning. the part of putting base stations in the corner of your green room should not be an issue as they can be screwed into the walls and painted green themselves.

The most pressing use case for these will be alongside the Quest 3 while used over Airlink with SteamVR in VRChat. I hope Vive knows that, and will make that exact use case their top priority for these.

As a person who regularly uses full body tracking for Beat Saber and VR Chat, I am looking forward to these more than I can even describe. I currently have a total of 5 of the 3.0 trackers and I absolutely 100% expect to buy at least 5 of these. I just hope they're not like $500 each, I'd have to draw a lot of pictures to afford that.

This quite cool technology! Been thinking as part of a massive upgrade to my workflow to get the previous lighthouse-based trackers for mocap; but this would be more perfect for me needs... and if Valve comes out with the rumoured "Deckard" - then I could have full-body mo-cap tracking anywhere and would no longer be restricted to just my room! I hope this is priced agreeably along with the dongle... I'm gonna keep a close eye on this! 😁

@@subaru4920 I’m sure they were very successful early on during the Oculus/Vive Era, but majority of their latest projects has been lack luster which I probably should’ve specified. It’s getting it deserved attention now and which is why all these VR KZfaq tech reviewers in the comment section are hype about it.

This is probably a misinformed comment because the Vive alone and their Vive wands were ultra super impressive in 2016. Lighthouse alone is pure magic and it's genius. Also remember that Quest Pro was first to have self tracked controllers. Vive is late.

Very excited for it! I'm developing VR experiences for fairs, exhibitions, partys etc.. (with custom hardware parts!) but I never used the lighthouse systems and so I could never use the vive tracker in cases I would love to... But now... that might change a lot! Would love to know details about the pogo pin configuration - same as with the vive trackers?

I would be interested in seeing this application extend more to the controllers, either by releasing new controllers that track themselves, or by having the new trackers pick up controller tracking when outside of the headset's detection (if they are behind your head for example and within vision of these trackers, they will provide it's position, instead of relying on the IMU).

This is big news. This will be interesting for full body tracking, but I think that can probably be done with IMUs and fancy software almost as well since the are attached to a human body with limited movement possibilities and the headset for a point of reference. Where this is really exciting is for things not attached to the body, like custom controllers. With this devs could basically 3D print any custom controller they wanted and attach this to it for tracking. If this had a few really simple analog or digital ports where you could plug buttons on wires into it, this would be a maker's dream. At that point anyone could build a tracked vr controller using this in any form they could imagine.

​@@DASPRiD Yes, but SteamVR is such a mess on linux right now that it's barely usable. The reprojection bug has been going on for 3 years since it was reported and valve never bothered to fix it so we have to deal with weird double-vision around the edges of moving objects. If you use the Vive or Index through Monado you don't get that, but then VRchat may not run because it still uses OpenVR

I'm mostly interested in battery life and whether these pins can be used to charge the trackers while being used. They probably won't be as long-lasting as SlimeVR trackers s but they'd better be closer to it than previous iterations.

It's absolutely fantastic to finally see someone do this, but please please, don't get revealed to be some atrocious 3 hour battery life or something. ^ ^; Or if so, we at least need a practical method of attaching an external battery of our own desired capacity. I'm used to having 12+ hours on my current trackers thanks to Rebuff Reality straps.

Very interested, but needing the camera processing, a bit concerned about the battery life, can it handle as long a runtime as the vive tracker 3.0? even that one is a bit short for comfort in my opinion.

HE SAID VTUBERS HE SAID THE WORD Preordered the new headset right when it came out, I can’t wait to have face tracking through a headset for the first time! Was wondering how much smaller the tracker would have been without the UNC mounting and it had it’s own way to attach to straps (maybe their own custom straps) for full body tracking. I heard mocopi will be releasing to the west sometime in spring. I wonder which one would be released first

I saw a video from an Australian talking about how the trackers don't even work as well as slime, don't have the stated battery life, is super difficult to connect to, and needs a phone to connect. There were some ups to them but the downs outweighed the ups to mich for me to try and get some. Also frome the sounds of it. The vst's will release after the next xr event with their new dongle.

Is it safe to assume that the price per tracker will be less/around the price of a single quest pro controller? At the end of the day its the same hardware but with no buttons and joysticks.

Seeing that these support open vr standards, it'll be completely compatible with SteamVR, and SteamVR can handle multiple different trackers at once.

It sounds like a lot better way to go, nearly every other 3rd party tracker out there is decently affordable, however has an age long waitlist to be able to even obtain them. Hopefully they come out with these soon I agree.
