In today's video, I will be telling you all about the latest news in the AR and VR Space. First of all, we will begin with the Quest now supporting Unreal Engine 5. After this, we will talk about something that a lot of people have been waiting for, a standalone full-body tracker, developed by HTC VIVE. This will allow you to have full body tracking on standalone headsets without base stations and without a PC, however, it will also be compatible with PCVR and it will track itself like the Quest Pro controllers using cameras. After I tell you about this we will move on to talking about Pico, whose Pico 4 might be coming to the US very soon. We will also talk about new VR games, New VR Game updates, a VR Treadmill and I will show you some new VRCovers that have arrived! I hope you enjoy the video :D

No quest 3 news recently. I am very hypped up for it! Recently sold my quest 2 and now i'm saving for the 3. In my country the headset is very expensive.

For Pico I was worried about losing support or even being able to connect to the Pico app when using it in the US.

Pico 4's biggest drawback (other than that privacy invasion part, I'm aware) had to be the US debut so if it does release in the US, it has to compete against the Quest 3 earlier because as far as we know the Quest 3 might be a tad bit expensive than its predecessor, the Quest 2 with Pico being the budget option while the Quest 3 will be another competitor to the market. But let's see.

I would really love a hybrid IMU/camera trackers so that you would have best of both worlds. Have precision of cameras with oclussion free experience of IMUs.

The Omni one is a stand alone vr treadmill. It comes with its own headset, a pico neo 3 pro, and doesn't need a PC. But can do pcvr if you have one.

I definitely agree. People were talking about inside out trackers before the pro came out. I wonder if they were working on it for a long time and only released it now? Not sure, but either way, I can't wait to see how they work. That and hopefully now we will be seeing more of these on the market.

I think the limiting factor was high power draw of such systems. Quest Pro’s controllers live around 7 hours and they need a whole 18650 lithium cell just for that

Also SLAM for 2 wide lens cameras takes a lot of processing power. A few years ago you would need the highest end smartphone chip in each tracker. Now a mid range one can also work, but still. This is cutting edge stuff. It was theoretically possible for years, but it was not very feasible as a product. And tracking software of this precision is something that years ago only a few companies in the world had. Even some big companies still have problems with tracking precision.

the amvr pu faceplate is so good just got mine today. so if you purchase a pico 4 its well worth getting that faceplate with it.

Interesting facial interface covers. I guess you can take them off an wash them. I have a textured silicone cover that doesn't absorb sweat and body oils, easy to clean, and it grips my face really well.

@@TheMysticle see but I think everyone would be willing to get the vive trackers that the pcvr already has, if it didn't mean you'd have to get the PCvr headset, having that accessibility is what made me put money into slime vr. So I do feel like people have a reason to be a bit upset with the manufacturing company slime VR decided to work with

I was hoping the announcement might mean Pico Worlds is coming out but Pico 4 coming to the U.S. officially would be nice I guess. I've always planned on buying it from their official XRShop store that already delivers to the U.S. so it makes no difference for me.

For now since i got XR elite last week. Im gonna try the wrist tracker first and figure it out how well its doing in VR Chat. I mean i have huge love to indexes. But going controllerless is a tradeoff i dont wanna do

You can only play their games with the New VR Omni Directional Treadmill, which is limited.

As a VR dev. Very few people use UE5 to make VR games at all. UE is only better because of lumen and nanite. Without those why wouldn't I use Unity? Most VR games are made from unity, it has the most support, better tools, I can make more than a fps.

VRchat doesn't run on unreal engine. It runs on Unity.

Running Unreal Engine 5's Lumen in VR on a Quest 2 (in PCVR) will easily bring an RTX 4090 to its knees, so don't even DREAM of it running on a standalone mobile processor any time soon.

Probably if you are only buying a headset for pcvr. The Pico 4 from what I've heard is super comfortable and is currently comparable to the quest 2 in price.

Looks similar to the same tech as Quest Pro controllers minus the buttons and joystick. So maybe half the price of a a set of Quest Pro controllers for one self tracking tracker.

Why don't they make modular vr headsets? Batteries, storage, ram, graphic cards you can put on a helmet or fanny pack, they can't weight that much can they?

It's a bit strange Meta would make this decision for UE5.1 when it's literally bugged right now and a super pain in the ass to work with (Already confirmed by EPIC about the skylight bugged but they haven't fixed...) V4.27 is still the way to go, 5x is way too heavy, even if you disable a lot of the settings.

As much as I support there being more competition against Facebook, I am worried about the Pico coming to the US if it true. Bytedance is an incredible sketchy company, even more so than Facebook. TikTok is a huge privacy concern and I'd hate to see people strap that to their face.

These don't exist yet, and even if they do I doubt HTC is going to send anything to me. Unless you mean the cotton covers which I did say they sent to me 9:42 , but I didn't review them here, I only put them on and took a first look at them, which is why I said "first impressions are really good".

Zero Caliber has an insanely high potential for being one of the most fun vr PVP shooters. If you master the mobility you can traverse the maps in a titanfal-like way, and the guns are in that sweet spot between arcade and realism. The game falls short in ammature or straight-up poor game design. It suffers the most from horrible map design, and most of the game mechanics feel extremely unpolished.

As a unreal engine user, I have found that UE5 sadly has much worse performance on quest compared to UE4 with identical render settings and levels. Many quest devs including myself are choosing to not to use UE5 until it has improved mobile vr performance, but that could be years away.

Lighthouse based Vive trackers are $130 each. I would expect these to be at least that much, if not more given their added complexity. A pair of Quest 2 controllers are $150. A pair of "self-tracking" Quest Pro controllers are $300. That should give you an idea of how painful the cost is going to be.

The misalignment is actually just due to the way my glasses sit on my face. They are always crooked, I tried straightening them once but the just got bent again over time.

I quit playing for a minute and got back recently and was blown away by the graphics.. I’m 31, man. Been playing games since I was 5 at the neighbors’ on the sega and original PlayStation- and I have NEVER felt so surprised by the sudden jumps in quality. I imagine the future is going to get weird!
