Good move! I've basally done the same now, unless the Fold 5 has an 8" screen and new stunning design I think this is the best there is (Mate X3 is even nicer the hardware, but not 5G and last gen SoC. Still for now I'll use this, good hardware, amazing screens and fingerprint readers and later see what the Mix Fold 3 is about or Fold 5.

Yes with you on this great foldable the hardware is stunning and make up for the short comings with the software. Since I don't need a stylus and IP rating this is good for me, I'll see what the Fold 5 is like but I don't imagine it will be any different.

I thought about getting this phone also, but I just have to wait until Xiaomi releases the Mix Fold 3 in a few months, to see if Xiaomi has an answer for Huawei's Mate X3. By the way, I've pre-ordered the Pixel Fold, and traded in my Z Fold 4 to get it.

Nice you got a Pixel Fold coming! I can't order one here seems no local release of it. The Mix 3 might be good I hope more like the Mate X3. But for now I'm keeping and using this, I hope to have the Mate X3 soon and then will decide. No chance I'll buy the Fold 5 as it seems it will be more or less the same just with minor updates and the throttled to death SD8Gen2.

As a fold 1 and 2 owner I disagree. Vivo sucks major ass.

Thanks for the comments. Yes I try to make a review covering the stuff I would want even if it's a bit long. Others just give you all the fluff and spec overview and then 69% of the video is about the cameras.

Sadly don't have them on hand to do that.

Yes not android auto. As much as i love the hardware the software still seems unpolished and lacking. I'm going to give it a few months mote if not sell it and later get the Xiaomi Mix 3 when out or next.Find N3 when out.

I did buy the Mix Fold 3 but sadly sold it to help pay for it. So a comparison isn't possible but I will be getting the Magic V2

AT&T will finance it over 30 months with zero interest. But it Hass to be a galaxy fold or a pixel fold

Yes the Z Fold 2,3 and 4 still have a poor narrow outer screen. It's not practical at all.

Heard of them a few times now so they are good? I might have to try them. What do you think of the Fold 2? I love it, really enjoying it.

I think we will always see it a little with current designs but really it's a non issue as you only notice it at an angle and using the phones normally don't see it.

You need to go though battery settings and allow it there so it keeps the apps active and give them all permission and it works.

Sure you can do that, I preferred not to block the speakers. It's gets quite hot but the performance is amazing. So much better than any other foldable at gaming and demanding loads.

Yes hidden a little via the File manager you then install an app called EasyShare. File manger via wireless direct. It's pretty cool and handy since USB 2.0 sucks.

Genshin was at max settings 60fps. The throttling test shown was done unfoldable as most would game with it unfolded. Running the test now folded the dropped to 91% the stability with 3DMark so 2% more thorttling. It's almost jsut as good folded vs unfolded.

You won't have enough storage and memory for that. Microsoft needs to revive Windows Phone first.

No sensible business would compete with itself as that would be dumb. It is hard enough in a competitive smartphone market without destroying your own ecosystem by competing against your tablets and laptops. I expect that is why Apple has not rushed out a foldable.

With Samsung ITS overpriced. Because the interface is easy people wants to pay that much money.

No quick reply in the notifications. As for maps yes tapping it does nothing I never figured out how to fix this you can apparently it's to do with permissions of maps, I gave it mic support and nothing happens still. Minor annoyances but I still love this phone, but it's why I say the software still feels like it's really lacking for a foldable.

Sorry twitter DMs and whatsapp quick reply in notifications is working! Maybe permissions before but the new patch and a reply I just replied to a whatsapp from the notification pull down.

Same the Z Fold 5 will be the same size, outer screen not much never. So this is why I bought this really as I'm already going to pass on the Z Fold 5.

Apple and Samsung are dinosaurs, while the Chinese doing an unbelievable job.

Just like me it seems, loving this larger inner display proper mini tablet size at 8-inches. I'm sure the Fold 5 will not match it's performance plus the smaller screens no thank you! Samsung has a habit of throttling the hell out of the chips with poor cooling so it will not be faster. And since it's really looking like the Fold 5 will be more or less the same footprint I've lost interest in it. This outscreen is great and the fingerprint readers are amazing. The only really good thing Samsung has going for it is the software but I don't use half of it. I use my X Fold2 like a tablet mostly that fits in my pocket. Most software niggles I can live with. The big one for me is the USB 2.0 so it's like using a Xiaomi again as my main phone. I think it will be the this or the Mate X3 for me my foldable for the year. The Mate X3 hardware is amazing so thin and light. Plus better cameras I hope to review one soon. I sold my Fold 4 a while ago as I couldn't stand the useless outer screen and the stylus I never used the same as my S23U.

The software and lack of android auto is it's downfall. Samsung fold software is twice as good as this, much better optimisation to.

Well now that it is out it's still not as fast but the Fold 5 has better software.

Yes if you give it full permissions, auto start and background power consumption management, set to high usage. It will not close the app then.

Nope to both of those.

Software of all the Chinese foldables never reached or will I think that of the Galaxy Z Fold series. Samsungs experience shows with foldables hope they eventually get there.

the thing is software optimization is for targeted customers. all chinese users think chinese brands have better software than Sumsang and that is why samsung takes less than 1% of chinese mobile phone market, not just foldables, but all mobile phones. unless chinese brands get serious about global market, they may not optimize for users outside of china. seeing what huawei got, i doubt that will happen.

Sadly no Android Auto. Debloat is possible however.

I had the Vivo X Fold and now the X Fold 2. And for me it a big upgrade first the old design look out date compare to the current phone on the market. Second the software has gotta 100x better and do get me start with the notifications much better on the Vivo X Fold 2. And third the 8gen2 chip is light years ahead of the 8gen1 chip for as performance and battery. It's worth the upgrade

It is yes, a bit different but you get use to it.

Yes downgrading the USB port, no 5x periscope camera and no IR was a stupid move really annoyed in that. So it will be for my this phone, Mix Fold 5 or the Mate X3. Fold 5 is the same boring smaller design.

@@Techtablets Yeah that's why I didn't keep my hopes up in getting a Vivo fold and their software is still janky as hell. I ended up getting the Honor Magic 5 Pro because of your review and honestly smartphone wise is the best decision I made so thank you!

. Yes the Vivo software is annoying, feels very beta like. Good move I think for the price the Magic5 Pro is the stand out flagship of this year. Amazing ultrawide camera and macros. Main cam does really well. Overall the build, screen and everything is a really good offering.

You're welcome, it's something I always test on flagships.

Hardware is nice but software things start to build up. No voice keying typing with Gmaps, no Android auto at all even with the app installed it needs root and some framework stuff that's missing. The app scaling for some apps is terrible. Huawei's foldable software seems more refined but then no GMS no android auto. My best bet is maybe the Mix Fold 3 + Xiaomi EU rom later on.

About 1400 euros this one to import in.

Yes not cheap, not at all.

You really don't notice it all as you use the screen looking straight at it, but unless you go looking for it at angles reflecting light off it you don't see it.

@@Techtablets I would like to believe you. Nevertheless, I find the prices beyond good and bad. Clear that the display technology is not that far. I think that in terms of multiple displays, the rollable would have more chances. But as with the display sizes, the industry wants to impose its will on us.

I think the rollables would be far more fragile, too easy to damage. I have seen a few working prototypes now in person. I love the idea as the larger the size the second screen is the better. The other big factor is the cost. Hopefully Samsung will release a rollable.

@@Techtablets I'm really excited to see how the foldables/rollables continue. In any case, at the moment I don't see any advantage over the classic format. In addition, the software is just too inconsistent. Not even Google itself manages to optimize its own applications for 2 screens from the start with the launch of its Fold. You can look forward to Apple. At least on the software side it will be consistent. As for the display quality, I don't expect anything better.

I really want to see the iPad meets iPhone foldable iFold or whatever they will call it. I'm sure it will be decent even if Apple will act as if they invented the foldable (Sure they will!)

Seems very solid the X Fold 2 port. But the way the Mate X3 has the type-c port so slim is pretty amazing. That is the best hardware of a fold but last gen 8+Gen1 and no GMS is a bummer.

Tensor G2, the price tag of it. Not really interested in it now.

Software is quite meh coming from a Fold 4 I had that is so polished for a foldable. But for me (At least) the advantages of the hardware outweigh the disadvantages of the software. I don't multi task too much just split screen. Also accidently selected the wrong font so the spacing is double like tabs. With the other font it's normal. Still the app scaling issue for some apps I'm working to fix.

Yes just China. No global release but you can import them in and 5G + 4G is all working.

What's in it for me? Nada absolutely nothing. As for the Pixel Fold I'm not going to review it but the Mix Fold 3 and Fold 5 yes maybe I'll buy those to review.

It's not coming to Spain, importing one in will be crazy expensive. I would love to review it if I got a loan unit but no contact with Google.
