Colours of the Xperia are so much more natural. Surprisingly, especially on the ship zoom photos you can see that the vivo is using some sort of algorithm for the text while Sony keeps it so much more real. Thanks for the review.

Nice comparison! In most cases, you can post edit some contrast/vibrance/sharpening in the photos with the Vivo...but, nonetheless, it takes time. Manufacturers should have like a HDR slider to tone down just a little the computacional thing before the shot was taken....

I sold my Xperia 1 V - and was then so annoyed with myself, I bought another one. I use the Vivo X100 Pro in some situations, but the Xperia 1 V is my day-to-day carry - it is such a good phone, and it has really taken some superb photos. It is definitely not as bad as a spec battle might imply, reality and daily use makes things a lot closer. Let's just not talk zoom, the Sony just loses badly in that department :)

It is hard to beat a 1 inch sensor with a 1/1,35 sensor. Maybe that is the reason.

I think he meant the front facing camera. The issue seems to be S-Cinetone that needs to be edited and tweaked a little. Next time I take a look at HDR video. That seems to provide better footage.

I'm of the opinion that when taking photos, sometimes due to our stuttering fingers we could introduce unnecessary blurs to the photos, therefore making some photos less sharper than they actually are. I would say you should consider taking every shot twice to reduce chances of inaccuracy. Just my two cents worth.😅

The X100Pro really has a good camera. But I would have liked less saturated colors and maybe a little less contrast. More natural photos in other words. Too punchy colors even in Zeiss natural. Can the solution be to shoot in raw or some other foto mode?

For me after watching this comparison, the brands tell us that they phone have a different approach and it significantly have a different features or spec that come with their target market off course,,, In my opinion for people who want to get a detail or more raw result u can get the sony And if u want to get more efficient result (without get too much editing) or upload ready result u can get the vivo i think

Are these all on auto? It's my understanding that the Xperia really shines, and is intended to be used mostly in manual mode in a more professional manner. If this is all auto, the fact that the Sony is anywhere close to the X100, despite it's weakness in this mode, speaks volumes to the quality of the Sony.

@@lltechview Wow, I'd consider all auto a major handicap for the Sony. The fact that it still holds its own is amazing. I'm curious how this would turn out if both were shooting manual with an experienced/pro camera person. My sense is that the Sony would absolutely dominate, but the X100 is certainly no slouch.

I think the xperia zoom lens is not really made for far zooming right? it is i think more made for natural portrets. japanese culture is also very much about privacy.

i think i would not use the s cinetone that much if i had this phone. i do like the hdr look a bit more. sony is still even with that hdr filter (hl or so) still realistic. not like other brands.

I think the S-Cinetone is to blame here. Don't use it for the selfie cam. It gives a very flat look and works better with the rear cameras. It looks a lot better if you use HDR or the standard profile. You can see it in my 4k 60fps comparison with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Assuming you can get hold of these Chinese phones, what is the experience like with Android auto, Gmail and other day to day stuff? Anyone using these as daily phones who can share their experience? I used to have a Huawei P20pro which was just brilliant, but Chinese phones seem to have been increasingly pushed to the fringes by EU regulations. I'm wondering whether to get an S23 now they're being discounted, but it looks like the Chinese kit is really taking the lead now.

Android Auto is usually not working. Otherwise no issues for me. Some phones however have agressive power saving algorithms so you need to put the apps you don't want to be killed on a whitelist

Sony get rekt by chinese brands. That will happen more and more in the future, because Sony is separating their smartphones from camera lines and keep cutting quality just to be able to sell their camera products. The bad thing is they even cutted us so much on a7sIII compared to fx3, we didn't get neither timecode or luts update or anything like updates even if we invested 3500$ in 2021, we were just abandoned. I hope Chinese brands destroy Sony in camera department too, because Sony sucks on listening to its users and things only about separating lines to sell more products! One day it will affect their brand so much and Chinese brands are getting better and better while offering quality for better prices.. so keep going Sony and in 10-15 years you will be abandoned in camera department as well. Like you are abandoned by your clients in smartphone department!

TOP TEST! But some shots in low light, zoom and portrait, it helps the manual modes to give perfect pixel shape in Xperia. Using only auto modes is good for this kind of test, but overall is not 1 to 1. The focusing overall is better in Xperia. So the good is Xperia. Vivo is too much AI processing, and Zeiss overall is useless for an AI processing device. XPERIA is BETTER!

Believe me even if you shoot RAW the vivo has simply better hardware. The tele camera and the main are beating the Xperia in that regard.

@@lltechview Where is the manual and the raw in this clip? Vivo is a mess in its Android settings. Too thin differences regards hardware in auto modes that can be equalized, and plus, Vivo it's a brick! Xperia is much lighter and better designed! You should be more fair in these comments! Cheers!

Honestly, the x100 pro doesn't seem to be as revolutionary here as the internet would make it seem, expected the xperia to do much worse in comparison. The telephoto is pretty good, but it seems like a middle step before we get to a plateau like the 1inch type sensors made for the wide cams.

Yeah, this often tends to happen for new launches. They get loads of hype. The Xiaomi 14 ultra will come with even more hype when it's launched but in reality it's unlikely to be too much of a step up from the previous generation. None of these top camera flagships will outperform in every scenario. The hardware this year for the main sensor is going to be very similar to last year for all the camera flagships as the LYT900 is basically just a more efficient imx989. I think most are just trying to improve the zoom this year as the main cameras have kind of plateaued for now.

How so? No one else compares mobile cameras to this level. He also clearly asks often 'which one do you prefer?' because he understands how subjective this is.
