Mine won't power up. Should I replace both boards or is it just the power board?

It’s hard to say without troubleshooting. If your red led power light is on I’d say replace the main board

The silver like strip that goes from the main board to the other parts...how did you disconnect it? It doesn't have he same kind of hook up as the other tabs.

Should be a hinged plastic tab that flips up like a door

Thank you for your reply. I don't pay for the parts I work for a third party that warranties the televisions. You should be able to find parts on eBay or other internet sources

Mine turns on but black screen w backlight no menu etc so mainboard?

Sounds right, but could be faulty power board components. It's safe to purchase both boards then you will have one spare.
