My Gladiator NXT arrived the other day. Yap! Took about a week to arrive. Bought the Gladiator NXT to replace a Saitek X55. Still using the X55 Throttle. I bought the Right-hand Premium version. The Gladiator NXT is a very... very... nice stick. Extremely smooth. Love the smaller base. The thumb hat is a bonus, especially for DCS. Great buy!

Loved your videos on this stick!! Might want to mention that your stick is the standard model. The premium model has an analog thumb stick and a couple other differences.

At 1:43 you say that on the premium edition the thumb push button is an analogue 8-way hat. This is incorrect. On the premium edition it is a 4-way digital hat with center push. The premium edition does come with an analogue ministick which converts to a digital 8-way hat by pushing the center push. This is located above the red button, where you say the standard version has a 4-way POV hat. The premium edition also comes with a "rapid fire trigger" as well as everything you need to convert it into the standard edition if you desire. It also comes with extra hard and soft springs so you can adjust the tension of the X and Y axes. Well worth the additional $30 IMO.

Hi yes, thank you for pointing those things out. Sounds like you've done alot of research on the premium edition. If those are things you value, or anyone else find 30 dollars of value they should def get it.

On the premium nxt the other two 4 way hats move freely - a guy said it "wiggles" but i think it might be just how directional hats work. Does those two hats actuate after travel till the end into any direction? Or do they actuate based on the direction of travel only? How big/large is the wiggle?

@@kv9579 The hats do have a wiggle, or dead zone, before the push registers. However, i've not used a stick at this price point that does not have play in the directional hats. I'd say it's no worse than what's on the x52, in use i do not notice it, but it is noticable out of the box.

The only disadvantage I have found so far with this joystick (I have both, left and right) is the sharp edge on the underside of the red fire button. But this is also due to my large hands and the fact that the stick is delivered with a preassembled palm rest for medium-sized hands and I immediately grabbed it in youthful anticipation. This nasty little edge cut open the finger nail bed of my thumb because I couldn't fit in with my "slap hands" ps. the premium stick: the analog stick is on the top left and has a double function not the thumb 4-way stick. When the stick is pressed, the red LED lights up and shows that it is working as an 8-way POV HAT

Hi Axel, maybe you can file that edge down a little. Thanks for the correction on the premium, it's hard to remember it some times. In the final review i included an info graphic from vkb sim that details the differences.

Just got the Pro Today, amazing Stick - Flying the F-16C in DCS Today, way better and accurate than the X-52! I use it together with the TM MFD's and the X-52 Trottle!

@@Simenthusiast Oh well, the X and Y Axis are way shorter which gives me some Troubles flying Choppers and Harriers thoug. For the F16 digital controls however it is perfect.

If I can’t get a pair of t16000s for under 85 bucks, I’m getting a pair of these. I love flying with HOSAS. It’s changed my life in star citizen. It’s so much fun.

I pretty much agree, the VKB Sim products aren't that expensive, especially compared to the prices you see from Logitech now.

Thanks for the review. I had the X55 years ago and it was uncomfortable and had connectivity issues with usb 3.0. Looking to get this stick. Did you get an early review copy? Their website says ships Q4. Also what throttle do you pair with this? Thanks!

You should also get familiar with the VKB Device Configurator. It offers alot of Functions! But also important: You can really finetune the Axes there. Saw the short Footage in MSFS2020 - it seems like, you haven't calibrated the Stick yet?

Yeah, the MSFS2020 video, at the time of recording had a bug that didn't allow you to set sensitivity curves so it was SUPER light touch. I've been playing more DCS than MSFS2020 lalely so i haven't bothered adjusting anything yet.

I have the standard NXT too and absolutely love it. It feels so much better than my Thrustmaster T16000. I am going to save up and get the premium left handed one to use in space games now.

@@Simenthusiast the pedals look very nice and so does the throttle that is supposed to be coming out one day. The add-ons for the NXT look interesting but look very plasticy compared to the actual stick. Hope they look better then released.

Do you find the x and y axis travel on this stick to be a little too short? I've heard someone else complain about this.

Hi Hon, i didn't really notice any issues with the range of motion on the stick. Some might disagree, i think it's up to personal preference. If it's something you're worried about i would not get an entry level stick and go for something much more customizable.

Jean Thanks for the quick reply. I do prefer bigger range of motion esp with proper flight sims like dcs where precision is of paramount importance. With space sims its less of a concern i guess. Do you know if VKB's stick extension kit will work with this stick? If that works then range of motion won't be a problem because one can always get more travel distance by making the stick longer.

Hi Rob, the twist action is very smooth but the stick does move and down as you rotate it. I don’t use the twist action too much, but it doesn’t seem to hinder the performance of it. Just letting you know.

Seeing as the age limit for youtube accounts is 13, i'm going to assume you made a mistake and did a typo or are asking for your kid/grandkid/neice/nephew. It'll probably be fine, the stick is fairly compact, an adult wearing a medium size glove should would be optimal.

Hi Matt, sorry for the late reply, yeah you totally can. They each have their own USB inputs so as long as you have a spare USB port available you should be alright.

Hi Edmonton, I wouldn’t say it’s retained for a few mm, it feels more like a detent or a slight step as you cross the plane of x or y axis on the stick. For example, this of going over a speed bump as you reach the origin point on each axis. Hope that makes sense.

I want tog et this stick but cant decide whether to get the standard or premium version. Planning to fly the Fa 18 in dcs. Does the premium version offer any true advantages one does need for dcs?

In DCS for the f18, you might want to pick up the premium since it has the thumb stick - which i believe the real f18 has as well. Does it offer an advantage? probably not, but if you're going for a more authentic experience, then it may be the choice for you. do you need to mount this or is it fine just sitting on a desk? Like is it grippy enough to just sit on a desk without having to bolt it down

Hi @cantfeelthis, the base is actually pretty heavy and provides enough weight to keep it planted. It also has sticky rubber feet so it doesn't slide around. It also comes predrilled for hard mounts should you wish to do so.

Hi Rene, ooof yeah, finding a warthog throttle is going to be a challenge at this point or any throttle for that matter. Flight simulation is at an all time popularity right now plus the current global situation is making restocking dry difficult. If you’re ok paying way over msrp you could check eBay but personally I would just wait.

@@renesalcedo4451 In case you still don't have a throttle, I'd recommend waiting for the VKB TECS throttle. It should come out by lunar new year, so that'd be next February I think. If you're interested, you can go check out the original announcement for it. They've been working on that throttle since 2017 now, and I really think it's gonna be great to pair up with a VKB stick.

Hi Jandy, the gladiator nxt is about 2x the price of a t16k stick. So it's not really a fair comparison. Will the Gladiator have better orgonomics, more buttons, and smoother feel, probably. But you'll pay for it. I would say look at what the t16k has vs the gladiator, and determine which one fits your needs best or within your budget.

Hi BC, no not really. I can't miss something i've never had. But more importantly, the standard has done everything i've asked of it. My main reason for getting this stick was for improved accuracy and smoother motion, which it does well being standard or the premium. Everything else is gravy on top.

@@Simenthusiast Thanks, I am leaning towards the standard more as it is significantly cheaper here in Europe, yet I don't see the use of so many hat switches.. Having the T16000M it just feels too much like a toy and I think this will be a perfect solution for that realistic feel.

what i really wanna know is the axis detent or nudging as you say. i heard it's not a smooth transition in the center, does it make you feel inaccurate in a dogfight.

Hi Aleksey, the other products are not yet available. I am not vkb sims marketing department. As such I also do not care about the premium edition because I did not get the premium edition. These are not comparisons to the premium edition. Everyone should do their own research to find whatever works best for them. These are my opinions on the standard edition and nothing else.
