In this VladTV interview, legendary emcee Roxanne Shanté sat down and spoke on a variety of topics.
The artist talked about her biopic, how she got involved in a beef with KRS-One, and issues that she had with the father of her child. Roxanne broke down various points in her career, including how she got down with the Juice Crew, and how she freestyled "Roxanne's Revenge."

She wasn't just the best 'female' rapper, she was one of the greatest rappers, period. I grew up with Shante (I mean musically, not personally) and I've always had the utmost respect for her. Even more so after watching this.

Intricate, what, like really complicated and hard to work out, or integral, as in important, cardinal? It's just that people usually use the phrase "integral part" and not intricate part, perhaps you don't read much and have only heard it being used on the television? That's usually the reason people make mistakes like that, from not reading much and mishearing things from TV, instead of seeing them written down. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

@@Oscuros this is exactly why I still sometimes look up words before I use them in written language. In school we had context clues which taught you how to figure out what a word meant by how it is used. Maybe that is what happened. You know that the English language is said to be the most difficult to learn? This is probably one reason why. Thank you for pointing this out. I honestly appreciate knowing so I don't make that mistake in the future. My point would definitely be mistaken. Although, it could've come off a little harsh.

I loved this interview. I’m a 70s baby so I grew up on hip hop and I always loved loved Roxanne Shante as a rapper. It was so good to hear how she is doing now and she can believe that not only were her lyrics from her albums sampled but so were here words of wisdom from this interview! God has blessed her and she knows it and is not afraid to walk in it.

Growing up in the south the Roxanne diss battles were the first hip hop records that got major play on the radio stations. For a lot of people outside of New York she was their introduction to the battle culture of hip-hop.

Yes, I remember when they put rap on 60 minutes because they didn't understand what it was. It truly is a blessing to see how something began. These young people today treat it like it's been here forever. It really was something different and oh DAMN! how it made you feel when you heard it. Hearing hip hop downtown blasting out the sneaker stores just made you feel so damn good. It was like that feeling you get when you got a crush on a cute guy in the summer time. Nothing like it. I'm from Newark, NJ. and lived in Brooklyn.

It wasn't 60 minutes but that program is the reason why a certain group suddenly started claiming they "helped invent" Hip Hop.Meanwhile the real culture had been at it alone for almost 10 years & they'd been mocked the entire time.Shante is a Hip Hop baby which is why she's the best whether non factors can handle it or not❤️

I disagree with Curtis Blow. As talented as Roxanne was. She would have been taken seriously. Her talent spoke for itself, she was marketable💵 And she had a good head on her shoulders to match. I'm glad she got her money now and more. I'm not an artist but I've heard of alot of music artists being taken advantage of. The great thing about the sacrifices of these artists now, is that they can hear their stories and hopefully equip themselves with knowledge. I hope any upcoming or current artist learns about the business of the music industry.
