This ended up being one of my favorite work trips! Even if all I did was work and eat LOL traveling over Valentine's Day was fun too - I got to take myself to my favorite sushi spot!

The new GASB statement almost got us too. We are doing a local school board and they report booster clubs as local school funds. Luckily they weren’t considered material so the statements wouldn’t need fixed

Now that you are a few years past your CPA exams, how much of the material do you feel like you retained?

More than I expected for sure! But I still research accounting standards almost daily for work so my brain is definitely active in the CPA realm haha

Good to know! I have been a CPA for about a year and a half in Arkansas. There’s just so much material that I don’t use on a regular basis, but then I will see something out of the blue and it’s still there, just packed down deep to make room for other stuff.

Do you ever have to travel outside of Tennessee for audits?

Not for audits, no. We only audit in Tennessee as Tennessee state auditors 🤣 but there are conferences, trainings, and peer review audits outside of TN that people can go on.

@@HeavensAudventure I was wondering because auditors for the comptroller here stay in state but if you're a Tax Auditor for the Tax department which is a separate department, apparently they routinely travel for audits out of state even though they are NYS auditors.
