Build a positive association between him and his pen/shop. Lots of cuddles, lots of treats. Start by leaving him for a very short time and slowly build it up so he knows he's not abandoned. He'll soon love the pen and probably see it as a safe space.

The tattoo shop I go to - as a customer - is across one floor, and they're sectioned it with different types of flooring, and the shop dog is only allowed up to the strip of carpeting, and as long as people keep an eye on him, he stays in his bit. They do have a little pen in one corner for him in case someone isn't comfortable with him, but mostly he just stays on his bit of the shop. Not sure how useful this is, but that's what they do. At home, my dog has a crate he stays in, it,s set up to be his 'den', a little space he can hide away if he gets scared, but also somewhere we can keep him if we have people over (nervous GSDs frequently don't mix well with guests), and one thing that's common to both the crate and his actual bed is that we have several very similar blankets which all smell like him, that he can push around with his nose and paws to get comfortable, and when we go on holiday, we take one of those with him, in addition to a bed and a couple of toys. We recently had to wash the blankets, and we had a very upset Teddy for a couple of days, so a familiar item that is very much his and doesn't really get fussed with too much might help him feel more comfortable. Or when we first got the crate, if he'd done something which warranted a treat, we would get him to go in the crate to get the treat as positive reinforcement.

Weird tip that kind of works. a baby monitor. If you can talk to them sometimes it calms them down quite a bit. you definitely have to use a soothing voice. He's still young, so eventually they kind of grow out of baby stage, needing mum all the time. but it could help

Along with building up the time frame that you leave him alone in his pen, and getting him comfortable being in the shop, can also give him things like chew bones or something along those lines to help occupy his time in the shop so he isn't so focused on you or what you are doing. It'll make his day more enjoyable and he'll want to go to the shop because he'll know there is something he enjoys there waiting for him.

I'm a veterinary nurse, He will eventually get used to it. Lots of toys, water, maybe even a kong toy with a paste. Try not to go in every time he cries otherwise he learns crying means attenion. Even though it's tough

Tips for puppy :) the more he is in there the more okay he will be. But i always find it helps my puppy if the cage is covered. But just keep working with him. Get him more use to being in the crate and being away from you :)

We put my dog in a pen every time we left the house while he was a puppy. He HATED it at first, but eventually he got used to it and how he basically considers it his own private area to escape. I think it will just take time.

Get a dog walker to come to your shop and take the puppy out for a good long walk. Seriously, they have so much energy when they are little that it would be worth the money to hire someone. Your new shop is going to look beautiful!

Hi Holly, i am loving watching the progress in the new shop. You could maybe try giving him something that smells like you. If I am going to be away for work I tend to leave a sweatshirt or old t-shirt (which has my scent on it) for my cat and it calms him down.

Time and treats is what worked best for my little one. Start by staying in the same room and work on leaving him alone for longer amounts of time, all while ignoring whining/crying and rewarding him for staying calm. Eventually that space will become his safe space and he'll learn to love it.

The start of the shop looks so good! Will it be wheelchair accessible as it being downstairs? I'd love to come get tattooed when it's finished but I'm a wheelchair user. Xxx

Ted should get used to it you can try getting toys to keep him bussy while your tattooing ect you a tshirt with you sent on it might help also but im surw with time hell get used to it hope that helped x
