I was smiling the whole time you were talking about your pen. I'm glad you have one back in your life again! And congrats to Fig for becoming a fully downloaded doggo!

I suspect that Fig may have been royalty in his previous life, used to being carried around on a palanquin. Hence his disbelief that you would ask him to traipse around the woods on his own legs, climbing over towering logs and wading through vast puddles no less. The fact that he climbed the Mount Everest of your partner's SUV is a testament of his love.

I'm also of the belief that the vast majority of events in life happen for a reason. Your reliable brass sport was uncharacteristically leaking that day such that you had to separate yourself from the pen, and here you are with a new brass sport and potential partnership with Kaweco. Sometimes we need to part with something dear, but ultimately for something even better to come into our lives.

Thank you for sharing your Fig story! It is so inspiring and so happy that you, Fig and Brian have each other! Oh and Bean too! Well, I’ve adopted a rescue Papillon in April and while she has come a long way and my partner and I just love and adore her, she is still bound with fear for various things. Especially if you bend down and pet her. You have to have an open palm and come at her underneath her neck. If you try to pet her on top of the head she backs away. That is just once example but we are patient with her and it just breaks our hearts to see her tremble in fear in some areas. Your story about Fig give me so much hope that maybe one day Annika will be able to set aside her fear.

First of all,..you are adorable,..my first ever watch of one of your videos. Secondly, while I can appreciate how much joy you might get out of using a typewriter like that I did find it rather odd that you proclaim your love for a pen but then proceed to use a typewriter to put down your thoughts for the day, lol. I have the Kaweco AL Rose Gold and the Brass Liliput! They are fabulous pens! I also use Diamine Ancient Copper bottled ink. I didn’t realize it was available in cartridges!

Alicia, I really enjoyed your vlog today😃 and every other one of your vlogs too, love them! I am a senior citizen now, yet I’ve always been a dog person🐶 In my 40s I adopted my first greyhound from the adoption kennel at the West Memphis racing track. Adopted greyhounds are like potato chips you just can’t have one😃. I looked at all the dogs in the kennel. This big white greyhound had a broken leg. The kennel said they weren’t adopting him out until his leg healed and brace came off! Greyhounds pick you as much as much as you pick them😃 I fell in love with him and he became attached to me that very day! I am an R.N. so I asked them if I could adopt him that very day and that I would take extra special care of him being in the medical field myself! Much to my extreme joy they said yes. Thus I named him Duncan and we had many wonderful years together😃. His leg healed well! He was so loving and fun! One day I had a friend over for lunch and we ate out on the patio. I had loaded up the outdoor table with a plastic plate with a large cluster of green grapes and chicken salad sandwich’s on plates for each of us! That was the day I discovered Duncan was a food bandit! The table was right at his height! Before we could even sit down, while my back was turned, Duncan gently took the big cluster of grapes by the large stem and started running around the back yard with them. He was jumping and prancing all around the yard! I learned he liked grapes! He was having so much fun with his prize! We both laughed and laughed at his antics. I rescued the grapes, washed them and we all enjoyed them! Dogs are not supposed to be given grapes because they can choke on them. So I cut a few grapes into small pieces and gave him a few🐕 He really enjoyed eating his prize catch! I love him so much and pray🙏🏻 that all my beloved dogs will be with me once again when I cross rainbow bridge! A few months later I donated supplies to the adoption kennel. Guess what? I saw a female calico greyhound that I visited, she bonded with me and I with her! Of course every time I donate items to the kennel, I have to visit each and every greyhound😃. I named the female calico greyhound Lady🤣. Lady was a delight also! Greyhounds are smart, they house train quickly if not already house trained. Greyhounds are sight hounds, so if they are off leash and dash after something they get lost easily. So keep greyhounds on leashes most of the time unless you are in a secure environment and have trained them well to stay with you😎 Loud noises of any type frighten these beautiful babies. Greyhounds are very docile and gentle couch potatoes! These babies are taught not to sit at the tracks so they they need to develop muscles for sitting by slowly being trained to sit. They love attention! Grey hounds have no fat on them to insulate them in the cold so they need a warm coat if you live with colder temps. Greyhounds can overheat easily in hotter temps because of no insulation. Cool them off by wetting their paws in cooler water, not too cold. Give them lots of water in hotter temps. For new adopters always carry water for them they can dehydrate in any weather or situation. Alicia, all of my beautiful babies easily and willing would jump up into the back of my Suv😂 I will save my story of adopting my Gripper boy for another time! I am so happy that you have an adopted greyhound! Have fun with dearest fig💖.

So pleased you found the perfect replacement. I received a second hand Kaweco Brass Sport this morning. Broad nib which, for myself, writes on a heavier paper so well. I prefer hand made heavier papers like Khadi, etc. In owning this amazing pen for just one simple day? I can understand your love for it. It’s a joy. And you know immediately it is just perfect. Ahh. I was smiling the whole time watching you look so happy looking at your Kaweco. I've been messaging you at Instagram a lot and you are kind enough to replied all my messages. I'm so happy for you. You are the reason I bought mine and fell in love with him. I called him the "Brass". Haha.

Howdy Alicia, So I sent this video to my mum and brother, who own their rescue greyhounds, and a whippet. Some greys love to jump, and some stop when they are fearful, some like walking and exploring, while others are naughty and run off chasing animals. They are now up to grey 4. They are all couch potatoes though! You could name your old pen, and your new pen! Do you have a name for your typewriters? I love the sound of your typewriter, which one were you using? My Betty needs some time with her... Hermes 3000 I slept with my pilot desk pen the other night too. As you say, if it ain't broke, no need to fix it, so it always has Sailor, Nano tech finely ground, blue black pigment "Sei Boku" ink in it. Such a quick dry writing ink, when in a hurry "in flow", and is nearly 99.99 percent waterproof. I like to write really slowly with it to practice my cursive, neatly. I like to sketch with it. It was next to me in the bed when I woke up. They are hard to come by now, replaced with a new model of pen, which isn't quite as good. I decided after watching Chris Saenz's channel to find all my vials and bottles of inks and open and test one every day, just like her recent Diamine advent calendar. When you filmed this, the ink I chose for December 3rd, was a bottle of Diamine Ancient Copper. I am testing it on my Danika58 Cosmo Air light booklet that fits in my fake but great TN. I haven't felt the need for any other inks, so I am testing with a glass pen, and a water brush just to make a swatch page of at least 31 days, inspired by Chris' channel. I’ve always loved greyhounds, considered adopting one at one time when I had a big yard….but it never came to be. For now, I just enjoy when I see them at shelter pet festivals, where the greyhound adoption groups bring along the available dogs. They are so sweet and calm, and I’ll just plop down on the ground with them and spend some time basking in their serene presence. I thought I remembered you not liking that brass Kaweco when you first got it.

So happy for the nice company and the beautiful things you have in your life! I was really a bit sad somebody stole your beloved pen from you. How good that you have it back! But in my opinion the greatest gift is that you can feel the spirit of things, so it doesn't really matter it's not physically the same pen. I guess the fact that your partner gave you this thoughtful gift, only adds to that value. I also love that you can compassionately see the strange need somebody had to steal those things from you and you can focus on that instead of just resenting them for the theft.

My family dog growing up was a brindle rescue racing greyhound named Echo! They’re amazing and such unique personalities from other breeds! And on a side note: Maybe a crow took your pen! They LOVE shiny things and take them as treasures all the time. But hopefully it’s changed a life. It’s a terrible feeling losing something so important and so personally meaningful, it’s refreshing to hear you looking to a bright side of that kind of situation.

because of you, I've ordered and just received my first Ka-We-Co, and it had to be the BRASS Sport model.. so heavy and beautiful in hand, I love it too. The one I received must have been a new old stock piece (?) having already patinaed where the cap was. NP, I just rubbed it up with some Wenol metal polish and it's good as new. Now for some exquisite ink colors.....

I have this pen too. It sure has some heft. I also have it in all Aluminum and I love it too, although it is light and the opposite of the brass. My cap, the body and the clip are all patina-ing at different rates, thus it is quite special. Yah, with the aluminum, there is no patina, so I love the brass. I also have the Brass Midori, and that one patinas so well and the nib is to die for. Once you have brass and you love it, you cannot be without it. Happy for you.

I just bought one of these for myself over the weekend. I've wanted one for years, but I never pulled the trigger on it because my fountain pen collection was already getting a bit out of hand lol. Money's less of an issue for me these days, and so when I saw it in a local pen store this weekend and finally held it, I knew I had to have it. It's such a good feeling pen. So durable. Anyway... seeing how happy you are to have it makes me even more happy that I have one too.

I’ve always been hesitant to carry fountain pens in my bag for this reason. I thought maybe you were going to say the kaweco sport was the exception but then you said yours leaked and I was like ah shit. Lol. Just wouldn’t want to risk it leaking in a bag. Suppose I could keep it in another pouch within the bag though. In any case glad you were able to replace your favorite pen.

I'm pretty sure they thought it's a flashlight. It's strange but whenever people see my pen along my outdoor gear, they either think it's a flashlight or just a stash for items. Some other setting, people thought it's a "pipe".

I have been looking for refills for two very expensive leather journals. I found a place in Washington D.C. called Jenni Bick Custom Journals. Do you know of other places to find journal refills? I really enjoy your videos. Your videos inspired me to start journaling again and writing with a fountain pen. Love your videos!

Is the brass pen smelly? I have a raw Al Sport and I love it. I feel just the same way as you (I have it around my neck at all times, cuddling it and holding it - it’s warm when I need it and cool when I need that!) I’d love a brass one (and ideally a copper one if they ever make one) but I really don’t like a metallic smell. Thoughts?

I saw your VLog for the first time. I just purchased my first Kaweco yesterday. Package has not yet arrived, but I am looking forward to it. As a conincidence, it is also a brass Sport with a bronze Clip, and I also hope that it will be a once in a lifetime purchase. I plan to use it mainly at home, but it is brass to be sturdy enough to be able to carry it where ever I want without worrying about it to much. How many years did your first one last, until it started leaking? And was that maybe due to cold temperatures?

A patina on the pen will appear in a few months and soon it will looks exactly like your old pen!

Ps Fig may have had a leg injury on the track that could be why he was skittish climbing in and out of your cars! Every greyhound has its own personality too😃

Hi! I watch your feather videos a lot and I love that you are as obsessed as I am! :) I am currently in love with a Kaweco "vibrant violet" pen. I have a pretty strong writing, but I still don’t like the pen tips that write very thickly. I like when the ink is wet on the paper, when it writes well, the pen writes smoothly. My question would be, is the tip of the Kaweco vibrant violet pen the same as the nib of the Kaweco sport classic pen? Or better quality? In my country, you can only get this fountain pen with an EF nib. How scratched or thin is this pen tip with this pen? Thanks in advance for your reply !! (sorry for the many mistakes, unfortunately I don't speak english, I write using the dictionary)...
