honestly I really dont like when companies try to pass blame for things like this. A haulage company cannot operate on the premise that no damage will ever be done, and that *most* drivers would never deliberately damages their trucks. accidents will always happen and there should be a repair budget in place for this. Thankfully my company has never went down this route and will always repair the truck when required.

I agree with this. This is what insurance is for and upto the company if they want to use insurance. If it was carelessness then that's what disciplinary procedures. Just my views. However, as said in video, it's not Hayleys fault or anyone's fault in that case, just one of them things. And maybe they should do something about the curtai ratchets so it won't happen to the next person, not just wait for it to happen again

I guess British trucks don't have "pogo sticks" on the back to keep the air and electric lines in the clear. My Volvo VN had a handle on the upper back of the sleeper to bungee the lines to.

Interesting video Hayley as usual xx as you said it wasn't a deliberate or careless action that caused the hose failure but an accident ( an unforeseen event ) more over a design fault xx Good to see your smiling face again Stay safe and healthy xx

Hi Hayley, My class 1 licence is on the way back to me after 22 years with the DLVA, (Insulin Junky!). I’ve just taken a quick peep at your excellent channel to see what’s changed while I was away. Sat nav, telemetry, automatic gears, digital Tachos, drivers cpc, working time directive alongside drivers hours, dash cams, blind spot mirrors, electric windows on the drivers side, ad blue and of course KZfaq! Anything you think I may have missed, crumbs sounds like I was driving The Flintstones car!

Near the end you said the MAN had an air leak, yet it"s just come back off inspection..defect it. Suzzies deteriorate over time due to exposure to sun and heat. Many companies have two spare airlines on the lorry, red and yellow or one black plus two large adjustable spanners to enable you to change them if they snap. I have had them go on a motorway at 56mph..luckily a service line. The red would just have locked the trailer brakes up. Great video thanks for posting.

Hi great video really clear bit harsh with the you pay for damages especially if it not intentional, accident happen you can’t see if the air line hook up on the corners or anything else the company I drive for don’t charge us for things like that when I take the lst trailers to certain deliveries we drive in and turn round you defo have to watch the lines if it a tight turn I’ll stop half way round and check as sometimes they get caught on the corners and they are only half stretched and I can just knock them off to save any damage if it ever happens to you again and you are empty disconnect the air lines and push the brake and shunt buttons together and this make the trailer free wheel and you can get it moved or take back to the yard I drive a daf cf 440 and the dash loves to sing to you so I know the tunes of by heart 😂 think the new fleet there getting are man / merc so would be nice to get higher up great video take care stay safe xx

It always seems to me that the seating position in all the CF's is set way too low in the cab, never mind the overall cab height being lower. The policy there with drivers paying for damage like that is not reasonable and I can not agree with it. If the company wishes to claim back the expense of driver damages then it should be looked at as a case by case basis where you can usually tell the difference between accidental damage and damage caused by reckless behaviour. The last time I had accidental damage was when I completely smashed the light bar beacons on the roof on a branch when trying to get out of a gateway. After picking up the bits I called the boss who told me not to worry about it as shit happens. It had a new light bar fitted overnight and it was never mentioned again. I was looking hard to see if I was anywhere about as we've had two jobs in that area where your second drop was so we've been running through there for five days. Loved the video all the best.

Goodness Sake Hayley!!!!! This sounds ridiculous. There’s many companies that lookafter you during your day to day trials and tribulations. Id be looking elsewhere. You’re a considerate person….please seek out and get a proper job. We’ve several drivers that’s caused thousands of pounds worth of damage…most repeatable companies are self insured … It’s guaranteed “ accident’s happen” you can’t be coming to work stressed about punctures, light cluster damage, fuel cap losses scratches, nicks and bumps……!!! Ps, thanks for flashing me in on the M6 before Stafford services last week…..😊.

If you are asked to pay for something which your employer accuses you of damaging, insist that they give you the damaged item. Then inspect it for signs of fraying elsewhere. Which would suggest that it was already well worn before you took the vehicle. The fact that there was nowhere to tie the air line suggests a possible design fault. I am currently swotting for the theory test; did you say that 2 lines were the same colour? I thought that they should be different. That suggests that a line has failed before, and they had to replace it with what they had in - if yours was the older of the 2, that would be a sign that it's wear and tear, not mistreatment. When you say that you want the damaged item, it's possible that they might back down, as they will most likely know that you intend challenging them.
