Hey Hayley, Ive been subscribed to you for a while now as your following in my footsteps. I was a young class 1 driver like you 5 years ago. Did my class 1 licnese just like you becuase i didnt like my previos job. after 2 years of driving, I bought a TM CPC home study pack, and took it with me in the lorry every day. I'd sit and read it in the cab, when parked on a bay and even in the driver wating room. I wasn't an academic at school but if you just read that book front too back twice like i did, you will pass. Now i'm a regional transport compliance manager and earning more than most Uni graduates. My TM CPC was the best decision I ever made...even better than my decision to but myself through the class 1 licese..hopefully this will motivate you to get that book out. ;-)

Keep going Hayley. As advised, get it done while you are young. I did my TM CPC about 30years ago, in an evening classroom setting at a local college with 25 other people. No computers then and I ended up with two huge files of paperwork and 'handouts'. I look forward to your next video.

You've started, so you have to finish, quite detailed and comprehensive, that's on the 2nd class; biggest part is relearning how to learn in my opinion, or how to read and digest a new topic and format, bit like changing from a junior to a senior school ( showing my age hear lol) Honest appraisal and very useful for the many others following you on this journey in paperwork . Thanks for sharing and looking forward to you celebrating with a truck sized pass.

That was a good point to reiterate about getting the TM's CPC now as in the future new passes may have to keep renewing it. I'd forgotten just how gruelling the course was having to get there for 6pm after work after probably doing a 12 hour shift. But well worth it. All the best.

The example answer at 23:00 has the driver returning to the depot with 6 minutes driving left. A transport manager advocating that should be fired. I do take on board the fact that it IS a legal example, but all the same.

pretty sure I learned the working directive from a book I got back in about 2007'ish on multiple choice questions for new drivers of large and passenger vehicles. either that or reading loads of letters in T&D to their Solicitor back in my youth, that I learned about the working directive, and thought how are you supposed to remember all of these different rules, and which apply to us here in the UK, but for the most part if the driver sticks like you to the EU rules, then your not going to exceed the GB working time rules, unless loading, and unloading the truck yourself which is where the working time directive comes into play. there are things like not allowed to split up your working day as well, like driving for 4 and a half hours, then in the bunk for 6 hours, then driving another 4 and a half, then taking a 45, and then driving for an extra hour for the 10 hour driving time, because of the working directive saying you exceeded the 15 hours from the start of your shift, that is about the only thing that a day driver would have to be aware of, but more a tramper would have to watch out for.

Rather you than me Hayley. I'm not sure I could focus on any part of the material after a full days work. Considering I want to sleep by 9pm most evenings, and sometimes even at 7pm I find myself dozing, I'd be in no fit state to concentrate on anything important for that length of time. I'd have to take time off work in order to give the material my undiluted attention. I hope you do well and pass first time. I'll come and work for Hayley's Humble Haulage Ltd next year if there're any jobs going. I dare you to fire random questions at your current transport manager to challenge their knowledge on what they "should" know in their position.

Hayley, in my entire working life I have always tried to convert a notion (formula) into something practical. If you do that probably everything will become tangible and natural, even if apparently not simple. Just a thought.

I did mine….head was battered for over a week.. passed the case study first time….failed the multi choice 3 times! Got it in the end…ram a business for 5 years then closed it…. Never used it since!

What is very evident, the working / driving hours need to be made a lot easier to understand and be of practical use. It shouldn't matter if the driver is driving or doing non driving duties, he is getting tired by the minute. So therefore should have a break after 4.5 hours and if staying with the truck, paid as well!!

hello Hayley, i have done masters in Logistics and supply chain management from Coventry University and now am planning to do the transport manager cpc course could you tell me if this course will be beneficial for me or not. and i wanted to ask in the tom answers the driver gets a break after working for 5 hours and 35 minutes. shouldn't the driver get a break after working for 4 and half hours.

I genuinely don’t no how you have the power to do this, I done my training for my rigid at gtg training Wolverhampton from 31st March/6th April and failed I remember the cpc and theory and hazard stuff it was just a head fuck! But passed all those first time. I actually sore you in your truck on the Monday 4th April coming down nechells lane. I wasn’t going to resit my test because I’m so stubborn lol but I’m going to give it one more go because the mistake was a bit harsh I felt. Ps the roads in Cannock/Wolverhampton are terrible Wolverhampton ring road by the wolves ground is dogshit! And Cannock road is shit! But yeah keep up the good work with your TM course the roads you showed how to turn was actually roads i was learning on! I even showed my instructor the roads from your KZfaq videos and he couldn’t believe it, he tried to catch me out by the fire station/ petrol station that hard left hand bend what you went round in both the rigid and the artic, he said “I’m going to try and catch you out here at the bottom of the road turn left it’s very tight but you can fit” I smiled and went I know I’ll be fine and I showed him all the things you showed us! I genuinely only new 75% of the roads because of those two videos so I found it quite funny lol Good luck, from adam :)

Jesus wept! More over exaggerated courses. Driver CPC is bad enough it's mostly common sense and could be done within 2 days but they stretch it to 5. You should fly through transport manager CPC with being a science teacher surely?
