Erratum: At landing, we did hear the burn of 2, then 6, then again 2 Merlin 1D engines, and not simply "two Merlin 1D" as written.

You are very much like me. Mapping viewing sights, plotting line of site through the buildings. Planning making sure everything was going to work. And then being very anxious trying to make sure everything goes according to plan. When the side boosters came down and you can see them through the buildings, I had tears of excitement that your plan worked because I can imagine the stress involved and how happy I would be when everything came together.

Being a local here on the Space Coast I have been planning to visit one of these official KSC sites for a launch in the future, very informative. As to the FH launch - I was about 25km south that day on the beach but still had a decent view. Glad you were able to make it over here for such a historic launch. Footage was great and a new viewpoint for me, and your LOS calculations were on point for the landing! My favorite part about growing up in this area is all the launches, nice to see someone who shares the passion. Cheers!

I really want to make it over for the first crewed flight. America has been really waiting a while for this one and so have we all.

@@Declan-pg8cg Yeah, I was just talking to someone about the 27th launch yestetday. Im out of town for work right now but considering flying back for it. Should be just as big of an event as Falcon Heavy was; what SpaceX has been working towards for a long time.

Thanks for this account of your awesome trip to see the Falcon Heavy launch. I had the opportunity to see a shuttle launch from all the way down in Stuart, FL, which is about 50 miles (80 kilometers), from the Kennedy Space Center. Even at that distance, it was something I'll remember forever. I can only imagine how cool it was as close as you were.

I can watch again and again the boosters coming back and landing themselves. This to my small mind is some of the most impressive engineering. Excuse me, I think I'll watch it again! Merci

Nice video. I was also at the Saturn V center that day, camped out on the far side of the restroom building so I could get an audio recording with minimal crowd noise :) P.S.: six M1D engines were used at landing (it was a 1-3-1 landing burn)

You are right, I should have written "two Merlin 1D sets". I put an erratum in the description.
