New York and Back 2024
What does "New York and back" mean?
In January 2024 we, Maren and Matthias, had the idea to change from boat life to road life, from steering wheel to handlebars, from navigation seat to saddle. It would be an experiment - how would it be possible to work remotely while riding up to 4,000 km (one direction) with everything we need in our bike packs?
The idea:
After attending the SXSW Festival 2024 in Austin ride two endurance road bikes to New York - and back.
First half of the journey (≈ 4,000 km) follows half of Adventure Cycling America's Southern Tier Route to Florida/the Atlantic coast, then head north to New York City.
We would take a break between June and August to visit Germany, family, friends, and our trusted team.
Second half of the trip would bring us back to Austin between August and End of September - either following the same route or, depending on our experiences in the first half, taking a different path back to Austin.

This video shares the fourth part of our journey, leaving Louisiana and ventureing into Mississippi & Alabama.
On the way we convert the distance we cycle into money to donate.
