It is a national shame how we treat our own first nations people. To this very day we deprive our people of water, education medical treatment, the list is long and sad. I am so happy these girls are able to help each other and get strength, knowledge and hope.

My favorite photo of my beautiful Lakota Ina is with her regal braids. Upon entering White Man school. The next photo my heart cries. She is almost bald those thick braids are no more. She suffered horribly. It took her many years to let the stories out. She bore shame that was not hers to bear. I helped her to recover her Indigenous dignity before she walked on. R.I.P. my beautiful Ina. ❤️. We are strong people. We’ve had to survive and still be here. My great grandmother had 16 children. She wanted Indian blood to walk these lands. She said, they couldn’t take her womb from her. She and my Cherokee great grandfather raised them well. Until, they were taken away to school. We are the only race on this earth without a voice. We are invisible. Humanity must do better. We shall always remember and never forget. Sending Ravens to all.

Sacred women. This video along with reflections on the women in my own family has made me realize how much stronger women really are. We owe everything that we are and could ever be to the strong women in our lives, be it mother or grandmother or wife. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by so many strong women. My prayers and thoughts are with my indigenous relatives.

Any ideas regarding how to create a real economy instead of grey or black market? How ‘bout some infrastructure like running water, real wells owned and built by the local people, an opportunity to start their own businesses or collectives to actually work on these proposals and jobs? As with all things it takes time...healing takes time...& above all else, change takes time...for example, do you know just how long it took for the liquor stores in nearby White Clay, selling & making money off of alcoholism, to be put out of business? My Oglala Lakota Oyate(People) will always survive. We are strong people, and always find a way to survive. Our cycle of trauma, and abuse needs to change, and that goes for our own people that verbally, physically, and sexually abuse our native children, that many was also physically, and sexually abused themselves as children. The abuse did start from white people when the Priest/Minister, and church staff would verbally, physically, and sexually abuse our children, all our depression, and mental illness was started from there, and us Native people continued the abuse from there. We need to stop the cycle of abuse, so we can finally grow, and thrive instead of just surviving. Much love to all my Wild Oglala's!!!

I’m part native, black & Scottish. This is a part of my history so I thank you sir for sharing. You may have heard here in Canada 🇨🇦 we now can look and search the land or the property of some Residential schools were my people has been CRYING OUT AND TELLING PEOPLE & THE GOVERNMENT WHAT THE PRIESTS & NUNS (and caregivers Of all these Residents schools) they dug and found 211 then 751. children. It’s now more then 1000 children remains they have recovered. Canadians were /ARE out raged and people worldwide finally knows the truth about our residential school and what happened to so so many native children. NOW THEY BELIEVE US!!!?? She learned her language.. do you know how hard it is to learn native languages as an adult? So she has a messy home but she preserved something that if lost can never be got back. @Burgman Keith I hear and read abou how Natives are treated in this country. I live in a state with a large Native population and I often see it myself. I bet you yourself have heard a lot of negative things said about Natives as you repeat many of them in your posts. When many people dislike someone's ethnicity it creates a hostile environment.

I know what that’s like growing up as kids we stayed at my grandmother‘s house my grandmother we all call Mom raised eight grandkids and her great great grandkids, but she didn’t just raised us. She also raised her kids and her brothers and her sisters by working on the farm land in Texas we respected our grandmother because she raised us and clear our parents too but they also they worked. That’s what Mexican Native Americans do we help each other and our families I just want to say God bless to the Lakota people and wouldn’t knee and that is my favorite song by Redbone and also God bless the Navajo reservation as well. Smart Geek, I've watched and studied what has happened to the American Indians for years. It hurts my soul & heart, everytime, I see negative reactions from regular Americans, that dont understand, or just plain dont give a damn, on not helping these beaufical people. With as much waste and fraud that fills goverment floors, you would think, they would help make lifes much better, for these people, instead of just plain, not giving a care.

Just the fact that native Americans still live on the same reservations that where given to them hundreds of years ago. The reservations were always picked out as the driest most barren land as an attempt to further kill off the natives and to not waste good land. Imagine if they where given back sacred lands that they have been fighting for, given back more of their original homelands, help to get them on their feet again and get over the socio economic trap that has been put upon them. I think the situation would look a whole lot different.

All my heart is with you my Native brothers and sisters.... I thank for this video showing clearly the state of US Gov.neglicence and ignorance , as also the general US population. And beautiful powerful women in the Pineridge reservation who go beyond all frontiers to bring hope, support, guidance and teaching into the women communities. I have been able to visit Wounded Knee to show as little tribute I could to all you brothers and sisters so courageous and patient and to those who have gone to the other world long time, but whose heritage will last forever. My heart cries with YOU.. and I know that it is of no help, but it cries.....for so much suffering, so much hatred you faced, so much racism during many centuries, so much slaughter and horible bloodshed, so that the white man could steal your land....and freedom. The Creator of All Things made you beautiful, strong, gifted, and taught you knowledge of creation, of "all people, all relations" in whatever luves on this sacred earth....This is what modern man wants to ignore, concerned as he is to make more money yet.... But this Sacred Knowledge the Creator gave you brothers and sisters is the most powerful gift from heaven, please do not loose it. I will continue to pray with you from distance and remember what native aunts and oncles shared with me so precious...... This what I was allowed to learn has become the most powerful teaching in my life, now 71. Makes me proud to see women wanting to empower the girls/women to be strong and proud. What I saw at the last of this film was, with it being the poorest reserve, school drop outs, poverty, and the biggest portion of the people still residing there, and being under twenty years of age, is the aftermath of racism! Empower these children to be leaders and fear no one, teach them self respect wins out, in the end.

After all, you are the true owners of the land called Americas... Please unite as Indian men & challenge Congress where the laws are made. Have the laws changed in your favour because a society of broken men breeds a society of broken people. It is evident in the crimes committed against women & children in Indian societies. Ditch the alcoholism & drug abuse as a means to escape your feelings of hopelessness & start fighting for your rights. Right now, your women & children are suffering under your actions of abuse. 😢🌹

The problem is nor everyone is college bound and it's very sick that its pushed on people that just want a regular life. Who want to be in debt in order to work. Not everyone wants to do that. Teaching kids to drive safely and how to get jobs should be what's being pushed not college.

Job creation Where they live, or within walking distance (since transportation can be and frequently Is a problem, at least until they have been earning money for a good while.) Some kind of help in dealing with the addiction and depression, etc. that does Not clash with their Native values/beliefs. Health care that is available Locally and is Decent, to address the many difficulties that come with living such an isolated life, like maternal health care, catching cancer Early so it can be treated Successfully, medical addiction management, etc. These are just a few ideas...♥️

It is the same in Canada. I am not aboriginal but I live in the north with many nations and it is the same story here. The Canadian government subsidizes them but its a debt peonage trap.. designed to keep the people docile and eternally linked to a cycle of poverty and shame. Its not just forced assimilation, its cultural erasia. I would recommend any books by Chris Hedges if you really want to understand the colonial system you are living under.

my son in law is a descendant of Australian Aboriginal people as well, the amount of extra payments he gets because of this including free education is astounding he thinks its a rort but is happy to get it LOL

@@markandmellwhiteley7995 sorry not all of us get those extra payments, certain family groups have royalties paid to them from trust, because of land. Unfortunately those of us where colonisation impacted and destroyed the most are less likely to be better off financially. It's still comes down to hard work, opportunities and overcoming a lot of adversity and trauma. Hope he doesn feel it's a rort, but compensation of some sort for the wrongs done to our people.

@@lorettaavey5085 thankyou for your reply Loretta l agree that it's still comes down to hard work, opportunities and overcoming a lot of adversity and trauma, its not easy ;) the trauma being a "state of mind", the adversity being "prejudice" but we all grow up with prejudice stupid people around us eg.... l grew up being called a wog, dago, darky, abo and worse ect... but now l'm told l have white privilege's LOL, l cannot win this young bloke is a very hard worker, IMHO he deserves what he gets and l am glad he is getting the extra help, l am very proud of him and how he conducts himself. his opportunities have been better than for everyone else non indigenous because as soon as he lets the schools know about his background he has doors opened up for him that are not for non indigenous people as well as the scholarships, grants and extra monies available to him being of indigenous decent the reason why he does think its a rort as he looks at people as people not us and them, great parents behind him anyway l sincerely wish the best for you

As the saying goes: It takes a village to raise a child. In this case, lovely young girls with great potential to help preserve their traditional ways through the ways of the ancestors that should never be forgotten. This will keep the culture in continuity with the cycles of Mother Earth. Thank you wonderful women for taking on the task of helping these young girls grow in their cultures while showing them the way.
